i was born too early. Granted I would have still needed to become a power hitter. But, I could put up Joey Gallo numbers lol

:mjlol:
Baseball has seen eras of high and low scoring.

Without checking, I think scoring is doing fine.
But maybe "offense" isn't.

Batting average might not be the best correlation to scoring but it does seem to correlate to a more aesthetically pleasing game for fans.

In the 90s they used to say "chicks dig the long ball" and it's true home runs are awesome. But nobody wants to see a bunch of strikeouts and lazy flies in between them.

I'm not sure how you incentivize contact. If you ask coaches and hitters, they all say they just want to hit the ball hard. They aren't actively trying to elevate and hit homeruns. But money talks and the money is going to players who homer...averages be damned. And general managers are designing their teams around that reality.

Maybe teams make fields larger so there's more area for hits to drop in. Maybe the league turns a blind eye toward PED use (lol) but I think if we start seeing a bunch of .220 hitters everywhere, fans are gonna stop giving a shyt.

I mean it's like the NBA and shooting 3s. Why hit a bunch of singles when I can homer or get an extra-base hit? I feel like the goal should still be to get on base no matter what.

Do we have a coli fantasy baseball league? Never played in one , but trying to.
I'd be game to join if we can get at least 10 but 12 would be better. Though if you've never played it's a grind. Not like football where you can set and forget. A lot of people drop off by All Star Break.

But it's fun... frustrating fun

I'd be down too. But like @Trips said.. that shyt is a GRINNNNDDDDDDDDD. Granted, I haven't played in over 10 years.. but when I did.. it was fun.

Fun fact for the :old: on here. I still got my initial email address, that I still use to this day. It's a Hotmail address.. and the only reason I even created it, was to play fantasy baseball. Legit got that emaill address a couple of weeks after the internet was invented.

Yea ... :old:

Anyways.. the name of the fantasy league was Smallworld. Any of ya'll remember it? :jbhmm:
