Hasn't done enough imo, I would have gone after Beard or Will Wade but IU might not consider them clean enough
IU had Kelvin Sampson in his prime tho (guess he was eventually fired for being shady).

I'm not sure if IU ever offered the bigger names or if they did maybe they were told no thanks.

IU in 2025 is pretty much Wisconsin status or below.

Maybe IU figures a slow rebuild is the only way at this point.

Yea Sampson was "clean" until then and even the shyt he got fired for is now fine, I think the same thing with Wade too since he was sliding nikkas bags

I think the Sampson thing was recruiting Eric Gordon (who was committed to Illinois) with a phone call during a dead period. Pretty minor. I bet IU regrets running him off over something so benign. Houston has been a top 10 program for the last 7-8 years, and IU's greatest accomplishment since then was beating Kentucky in the regular season the year UK won it all.

Sampson got hit with a 5 year show-cause penalty for lying about it tho to investigators which pretty much cripples any chance to coach so they had to let him go

They should've hired his ass back :russ:

On February 22, 2008, Sampson was forced to resign due to allegations of serious NCAA violations,[10] which included sending text messages to recruits, something that was against NCAA rules between 2007 and 2013. As a result of these allegations, Sampson received a five-year show-cause penalty.[11] See NCAA violations section below.

For sending texts :francis:

I'm not familiar with what the show-cause penalty is...? It disallows him from coaching in the NCAA?
