So are you saying ND has a secret UNC level Africana Studies program only available to athletes? The “lowest” level degree undergrad program they have is Liberal Studies and even that requires a 35-60 page thesis to graduate.

You can be on the team without graduating. Michigan is a higher ranking academic institution than ND on most lists, and they have a General Studies program. It's not some secret conspiracy, it's just a program that's geared towards athletes since it's the course load is much lighter than most actual majors.

I'm not saying this is wrong of the school to do, but pretending that they won't accept blue chippers due to academics is just some pretentious BS that doesn't actually exist at big time programs. Maybe Ga Tech or Northwester, but they're not big time like Mich or ND, or UCLA/Duke Hoops, etc.

Now, I'll agree that ND or Duke Basketball seem to recruit a certain..."type", compared to say UGA football or Kansas basketball...but if some stud D-Lineman from Louisiana or some 5* 6'11 kid from a broken home in Detroit showed interest in ND or Duke, please believe they'd make exceptions.

Well if he’s decided to attend to play ball and not play school, I don’t see how that’s a bad look for the program that’s decided to have a higher academic standard/requirement for their student-athletes. Let him go to the program that will stash him away.

KU Basketball does have a type. After the Wiggins/Embiid class, Self may go for a 1 & done but the chunk of his classes will be on campus 2-3 years. It’s like he got scared to get recruit guys who are guaranteed R1 locks. shyt pisses me off too

Yea KU recruits well of course, but Self has stayed away from the Duke/UK method of the top guy in the class, 1 & done, future top 5 pick type of guys...and he just won a title.

The duke/UK thing can work, but UK has proven that you def need some guys that are around 2-4 years...I think the best mix is some upperclassmen guards, solid defensive minded/shooters as role players with 1-3 5* guys mixed in...

Yea, Cal's model worked until Coach K came and knocked down the buildings. UK's done less with more than any program in the country. 30 something NBA players and 1 title to show for it and that was 10+ years ago.

I wonder if UK will be down to have teams that aren't filled with 5* 1&Done guys, if it means competing more in March...I know some UK fans that want to keep recruiting top 2 classes every year and they don't care about early flame-outs...

Self recruits how Coach K used to before he switched and committed to going after 1 and dones. Self likes guys that’s gone stay multiple years. Which I understand, the older teams are usually the ones who win big in March

K switched up cause he got that USA Olympic HC job. Wasn’t really that much of a philosophy shift. He just got access to them earlier when they’d be on the 17U team and whatnot. Self pisses me off cause the logo got some weight behind it and were the top Adidas school. He’s wasting it. He don’t even go after the Chicago guys like he use to.
