It’s clearly his and his agents choice to not work out for them
Can’t blame him I wouldn’t wanna go there either but I doubt his agents did that.
Why? It’s been known that players have been steered to not work out for the kings. Even davion Mitchell didn’t want to work out for them or selected by them. There’s no incentive or upside for a top pick to play there.

Agents do this all the time if they feel their client is gonna get buried there or if they have a better situation for them a pick or two later.
Detroit would be ideal for him. Indiana is the sentimental favorite. a spot like NY is the "fukk it they'll love me there" move.
It's what makes trading Haliburton from a sentimental standpoint that much worse since he was angling to go there when everyone else was running away.
