Nebraska is dead, unless they find a generation coach like Saban, they’ll never be able to be the power they once were. 9-win cap, with the ability to sneak into the Big Ten Title game (at least until the divisions are restructured).

A few factors come into play:

UNL is far from recruits homes, I remember a stat where their average player is from ~800 miles away from Lincoln, so they have to bring in a lot of out of State recruits. These recruits weren’t even born when Nebraska was successful.

Nebraska had some scholarship loopholes they used to exploit where a scholarship is given to the “top” male and female “students” from each county in the State. UNL of coursed used these scholarships on O-lineman players that “walked on” to Osborns teams.

Of all the has been programs, they fell off the hardest, and have the hardest road back to success.

Say what you want about Mich or Tennessee and other programs that were stronger in the 90s, but Mich and tenn still recruit at a top 15, top 10 level year in and out. UTenn plays in a rough conference + Bama every year, and Michigan has played at a 8-9-10 win clip despite some rough individual seasons. They didn’t fall off nearly as hard as Nebraska and their rivals are much stronger than Nebraska’s.

From 3 titles in the 90s to 3 wins last year…completely insane the fall off.
Was listening to a podcast on them, much of what made them good is gone or they can’t access
No prop 48
Not the only program using strength and conditioning
Roids
Walk ons, kids used to do what they do at Bama now (they have sent over 30 to the league)
They didn’t innovate/variate their offense
They tried to switch up out of the option too quick
Higher expectations than their reality

The solution is they gon have to portal hunt/juco hunt, and get they money up and snatch up a few high end ones, i think what frost is doing now may help
MgoBlog fell off bad. Their football reporting this off season has been atrocious. Basketball is a little better.

Yeah, they also geared all the high school programs in the state to be feeder programs for the University. Everyone in Nebraska was running the I. The best players even though there was only a few were going to play for the Huskers. So when you got there there was no need to acclimate. After that you just need to pluck a few guys from the south and west. Also, their PED program would’ve made Russia jealous.

I still think they can be a regional power. Memorial stadium is still top 10 college venues in the country. It’s name still carries weight in the Rocky Mountain region, the fans also seem practical they aren’t looking for national championships they just wanna be respectable. If kids come to Norman and Iowa City they’ll come to Lincoln. I don’t know if Frost is that guy. He seems really unlikeable, like Brian Kelly.

They’ve got work to do. fukk mgoblog is ass
I can see myself punching you one time on your jaw and losing 8-9 teeth
You need a hug bruh you mighty aggressive on this Monday

Texas tech is giving 25k thought the Texas lineman were getting 90k

I can see Nebraska winning 8-9 games this year.

All 3-9 jokes aside about Nebraska, losses are losses I get that, and there’s no such thing as moral victories but all 9 losses last season were within single digits, every single one. A couple of lucky bounces their way and the conversation about Nebraska is a whole lot different.

I don’t think two teams from the SEC gets in this year

And judging by everyone’s playoff predictions, that’s a hot take
Not really a hot take :yeshrug: I feel like those are the 4 best teams in the nation I do agree with @Sauce Dab that Clemson could get in with better QB and USC fukk @Trojan 24 and @Silkk i feel like those are the contenders I like said maybe a team out the blue gets In like scUM last season but that’s how I feel. EDIT: man you on some bullshyt every prediction got bama and UGA in the playoffs :mjlol:

No, what I was saying was that me saying that two SEC not getting in is a hot take

Because everyone has Bama and UGA in the Playoffs, one of them is not making it.

Serious question. What in your mind give you the impression that Notre Dame is a top 4 team this year?
