Outside of legacy dudes like Archie, there’s no #1 recruit in name in the last 10 years thats bigger than a #1 in basketball

2014 in CFB had more top end big name talent, just going through the lists. Okafor vs Fournette, that’s a close one. Once you get past like 2015, with all the YouTube shows and shyt centered around HS BB, it ain’t even worth looking into anymore.

Ole Miss was hot under hugh freeze too. I know it's not a big brand in Michigan but it is in the southeast. Good coaches will want to go there when Kiffin leaves.

Yea that's what I was saying. It's just a snapshot of how the players feel right now, which is all that really matters when it comes to recruiting. Y'all are criticizing it like it's supposed to be something else.

Ole Miss won’t ever be shyt.

Damn imagine being the second ranked team in your own state  on any ranking thats some supreme embarassment struggle life right that

Pitt and Wake Forest ranked higher than Clemson :picard:

How the fukk they fall off so fast

I mean yea I'm agreeing with you. Like I said, football players just aren't taking advantage of social media like basketball players do. There's no reason football players can't have huge TikTok followings. Mikey Williams and Jared McCain aren't bigger names than Bryce Young. They are just using TikTok to their advantage and Bryce doesn't..

In general, basketball players are more known than football players. Multitude of reasons, smaller team size, no helmets, basketball is a more accessible sport, basketball is more popular in big cities (nyc LA chi), basketball starters are on the court the entire time where as a big time DE is only playing on one side of the ball, hoops recruits have always been more coveted from a media standpoint, searching for the next lebron, Jordan, Kobe, KD, bc nba stars earn more than nfl stars and are bigger brands, basketball is typically a more sport that allows for more showmanship than football, one hoops player can change a team to contender status. Basketball is a global sport so players will or could have an int’l following where ppl in Europe or Asia aren’t going to give 2 fukks about HS or college football, could go on and on…

A D.Rose caliber prospect is more popular and known in HS than most starting NCAA starting QBs.

Can’t just chalk up football players to being less popular to them “not putting themselves out there enough”

All that stuff you said makes sense but this is a huge part of it. Football players aren't even trying to grow their IG/TikToks. Like I said all they would have to do is post highlights/workouts every now and then and just a bunch of random stupid shyt daily like the bball players do. They aren't doing anything a football player can't do as well.. It's all just marketing 101

Practicing basketball to the average person is typically more relatable and more appealing to view than watching football drills. Maybe I’m talking out of my ass, but other than the DB vs WR drills, or Oklahoma drill, there’s not as much entertaining practices/workouts that the average fan or casual can watch and find entertaining. Whereas just about everyone thinks shooting threes, dunks, and handles drills are entertaining.

I’m willing to almost guarantee that Clemson starts to rebound and finishes better than wake and pitt.

Preseason rankings pretty meaningless projections based on the previous years outcomes. scUM started the season unranked and made the playoffs. MSU was picked to finish last in the Big Ten East and won 11 games, etc etc

Well looking at it more closely, it's really just a few standouts in basketball that have millions of followers. The top football recruits this year are actually a lot more valuable than the basketball recruits(when you take out Bronny James and Mikey Williams)

There’s nothing to take notes on. Football is the more popular sport but Basketball players will always be more known than football players.
I ain’t need a podcast to tell me this, but I heard one that was comparing how many media outlets basketball players created for themselves and how much they get to alter their nature vs the NFL. Even Odell, who prolly the most transcendent media personality in that sport, was getting fried for the last few years

The football recruits NIL value is actually a lot higher than the basketball recruits on average. I was just looking at the top bball guys yesterday but they are just outliers.

Can't wait to see Flowe and Sewell play together. Oregon defense will be scary if they can stay healthy. Ppl sleeping on Oregon with last season being a rebuilding year and Cristobal leaving but their OL and front 7 on defense are both elite. If they get above average QB play then I have them winning the Pac 12

“Valuable” in terms of NIL I’m assuming?
