The right hire can have those schools lit. Illinois use to be the shyt

When tho? I can’t remember Illinois every being good for more than 1 year maybe. They had a fluke 2007 year where they beat OSU and made the rose bowl bc OSU was in the title game.

I do agree they could be good in the 8-10 win range while playing in the west.

Def more of a hoops school w/ a hoops following. Same with IU and PU

Your right. I was thinking basketball. I think it has more to do with the football talent in Illinois. You can get some players, but not enough to field a competitive team. They are gonna have to make good hires that coach up what they got. Northwestern does a great job of that.

NU might have a bigger football following than Illinois tbh. I would love for NU to be a 8-10 wins/year program. Their campus is dope af,

Illinois is definitely a basketball school but I think bret bielema can turn them around to a big ten contender and not just in the west if he can get the Chicagoland area best players and east saint louis best players Illinois could be a problem

I think lovie was building something, but my biggest gripe with Illinois is they don’t hit the chicago land area I’ll look at random rosters in the big and see Illinois players and in particular chicago kids, it’s not a plethora of chicago kids, but i think it’s some talent that you can cultivate into solid contributors to studs, and it would go a long way into changing perceptions with Illinois for the city, obviously hit up other hot spots in Missouri,Ohio Texas, Florida, but there’s an added bonus of Arizona has a lot of Chicago transplants they can woo some of those kids to Illinois given how big our conference is

Nu will have to take them as they get them admissions is a road block (i understand the trope of good education, but honestly all the big schools and depending on the major just as competitive) i think northwestern needs to play on the Chicago element( not like they haven’t) but that’s the draw good education new facilities chicago

Fam in my lifetime i think they made noise the Simeon Rice year (he got some hype) and some of the juice years, I’ve been on this rock 39 years and have not seen them lit except that rose bowl year

Unless Oregon wins the Pac 12, I feel like UGA should be out of the playoffs if they lose to LSU :manny:
