Simons got passed up by a 2nd rounder
He didn't get passed by Trent. Their skillset and utilization is completely different on that team. Trent pretty much operates as a 3 and d guy and they'll plug him in even with Dame and CJ on the floor to guard wings. Simon is used similar to Dsme and CJ as a ballhandler/offense initiator, so he kinda overlaps their skillset and obviously there won't be as many minutes for him with those 2 on the squad.

I'd be interested in that trade as nobody really moves me this year. Admittedly I haven't watched as much college ball last year as I usually do, so I'm not speaking from a strongly informed POV this year. I just need is in a position to win the Bates lottery in a few years. Give us that hometown stimulus these other squads been getting with the homegrown potential Superstar.

Trent shouldn’t of fell to the 2nd. But I thought Simons was more of a PG/scoring guard prospect and Trent was a SG/perimeter defender shooter? It seems like they really like simons.

either way if I was the Pistons I’d jump on that trade.

its obvious the skillsets are not the same but portland should focus on a bigger sf long term. I can see trent as a 2 in most situations going forward instead of the 3 (when dame and cj on court) and cj in pg stagger situations when dame is sitting. Trent is the 3rd best guard when everyone thought itd be simons

I agree that Trent is a 2. I still don't know if he's better than Simon though, but for what he brought to the table he fit better for what they needed. I like him as a prospect though, and more than Trent or some of the draftees.

I Just dont get it ... Cant Shoot/Cant Create Shots for Himself/ Cant defend wings with that weak lateral speed .. he looks like a complete project :francis:
he wouldn't be in my top 10. He's the guy you draft later and you hope becomes a good intangibles role player for you. At #2 I don't get it at all.
