He looks legit out the gate.

What made Manny so great was how smart a hitter he was. He was known to set up pitchers to crush them later in the game. Hard to know if Acuna has that cat/mouse part of the game down yet. But he's a tremendous hitter right now.

somebody post the cliffs

They're furloughing their area scouts right before the draft. The scouting director, five regional supervisors and four cross-checkers, who provide second opinions on players area scouts evaluate, will run the draft. After the draft, everyone but the scouting director will be furloughed.

1.) They will be fukked on undrafted players because the area scouts are the ones that have relationships with those players.
2.) A lot of these scouts will probably leave for other teams when their contracts expire, some will be this October.
3.) Undrafted players will think twice before signing with LAA because they see how shytty the team is treating its low level employees (relates to how they could perceive Minor League treatment).
4.) The cost savings for doing this is minimal and nonsensical for someone with Arte Moreno's net worth ($3.3 billion).

I'm alright with this from the perspective that professional sports is not THAT important in the big picture. Health is the primary concern.
However, for the stadium workers and other personnel who depend on that money (not the players, but rather vendors, cooks...) it really is going to hurt.

The optics for MLB are going to be awful once the NHL and NBA are playing again this Summer and they still aren't. It's not a sport in which they can afford to lose whatever good will they have with the fans especially with a lockout looming if there isn't a new CBA ironed out. This week is extremely important when it comes to baseball in 2020.

I don't know how feasible it is for MLB to hold a season in a bubble (or a few bubbles). Lot of moving parts for a long stretch of time. The NBA and NHL were near the ends of their seasons, so on a practical level, they don't have to ask as much.

With the playoffs almost here for both leagues, there's gonna be teams getting knocked out and going home regardless so the numbers will keep getting smaller as the weeks go by. MLB's trying to get 30 teams isolated for who knows how many months.

With that being said, it is/was a golden opportunity for baseball to have the spotlight all to themselves and possibly gain some new fans or grab a bigger share of the public's interest.
