Yu Darvish (for the time being) looks as dominant as any pitcher I've ever seen.

Seriously, this guy has tapped into something that is incredible. If you remember seeing Pedro, Maddux, Unit, Clemens in their prime....Darvish is pitching at that level right now.

Roger Clemens won the 2004 NL Cy Young Award, despite not really deserving it.
He won, because he had an 18-4 record with the Houston Astros.

Here is his line:
18-4, 2.98 ERA, 214.1 innings, 169 hits, 71 earned runs, 79 walks, 218 strikeouts.

Here is 2004 Randy Johnson's line:
16-14, 2.60 ERA, 245.2 innings, 177 hits, 71 earned runs, 44 walks, 290 strikeouts.

In baseball, the casual public generally understands that Wins and Losses are a bad way to measure actual value. Though this is a very high level, basic idea and many people have understood how overrated certain metrics are.

However, the NBA fan base is still incapable of understanding anything outside of the PPG/RPG/APG template. Quite possibly the "Wins/Losses" of NBA metrics.
But I digress...

Randy Johnson was amazing.
:wow:

Last season, Gerrit Cole allowed an exit velocity of 87.6 mph.
So far this season, he's allowing an EV of 91.2.

So yeah, unless he figures out a way to induce weaker swings (or get these hard hit balls to go for groundballs), he's gonna struggle.

that’s what I said earlier. He’s been getting hit harder this year. His barrel % has doubled

Unit had a 9 War. Shyt Oswalt had a higher WAR than Clemens that year.
W\L is a terrible way to judge a pitcher. Just look at Degrom. Mets don’t deserve him at all.

You can go down the line with awards in the past. So many ridiculous votes when you look at the numbers now.
