He's right, that ND being semi-ACC in football is odd to me. I'm sure they can find a way to keep the NBC contract if they became a full time ACC football member.
They're actually leaving a substantial amount of money on the table to be indy. They seem to value their freedom and ability to annually schedule USC, Navy, Stanford, and play Michigan every so often more.

I do wonder if the pandemic could change things though?

probably not, they good, but if they money start dipping or they can’t get a lot of their usual schedule they may join in

The good news for Blackman is that it's a free year so his college career isn't over

come back another year to be extra regular
