Lol I know what a S&C coach does and the position itself is important for every sports team obviously. My point was that it's not like it takes a ton of talent or genius to be S&C coach like it does a OC, DC, etc

I've never heard anyone complain about a S&C coaching hire lol and all of those guys are nameless to 99% of fans so obviously they aren't THAT important

This is ridiculous. Us Gator fans know ALL about the importance of S&C coaches after the lack of player development physically under Mus and Mac and how important Nick Savage hire was when Mullen brought him over from MSU.

It's ULTRA important.

QB development was the biggest issue with those 2 and Mullen has fixed that

Florida still had some great defenses in those muschamp and Mac days it’s not like y’all became soft or anything. The problem was all QB play, the one year with Grier they were on their way to having a great season

And shyt y'alls defense looked soft af this year in the big games couldn't stop anyone even UGA's sorry offense. Looked like Nick Savage needs to do a better job

Strength and conditioning was atrocious which was exactly why NUMEROUS players opted to hire trainers on their own because our S&C coach was terrible. Our S&C program was just as bad as the QB play. This is WELL known. Trust me, i know....

“It was a joke. I love Mike Kent to death, one of the best people I have ever met,” he said. “Great guy, but it was a joke. We didn’t really lift anymore, we stretched. Under coach [Will] Muschamp, we lifted heavy, Olympic-style lifts. That’s football weight lifting. We didn’t lift for max or do heavy power lifting under Mac and Kent. Our program wasn’t a serious off-season program. There was no accountability. If you missed a workout, there was no you had to make it up or get up and run the next morning. If you missed a workout, you just missed it. They couldn’t enforce anything, or they wouldn’t, so they started making some things optional. Once you make it optional, what do you think is going to happen? Guys are going to take the option of not showing up.”

McElwain talked about having a similar organizational structure to Saban’s, but he didn’t [inherit] Saban’s attention to detail. During McElwain’s final year at Florida, some Gators were paying their own way to be trained elsewhere in Gainesville by former Olympian Tim Montgomery. That should have been a glaring red flag with regard to the Gators’ strength program, but nothing was done to correct the issues that caused the players to seek help outside the program.

Well yea Mac was a terrible fukking hire lol and that's just incompetence coming from the HC more than bad S&C coaching. It says Muschamp did things right though

Saban has done it again:wow:Looks like the real get here for us might be Matt Rhea, someone with actual knowledge of how to prevent injuries and train players in the proper way. Wouldn't be surprised if Saban secretly wanted to get rid of Cochran and his old school ways.

-- Rhea launched a consulting company in 2001 and helped NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL teams, International Olympic programs and college athletic departments. He provided direction to his clients in areas like speed training, injury prevention and performance optimization.

-- According to an article from Stack.com, Indiana players saw their average top running speed increase by three miles per hour after working with Rhea in his first year in the program.

“Team speed is what wins football games,” Rhea told Stack.com. “Those kind of improvements are a combination of the intense work ethic of our players and the fact Dave Ballou and I are willing to invest a ton of time into individualizing this as best we can for our players.”

-- Rhea advanced to full professor of kinesiology at A.T. Still University where he taught courses in sports conditioning and exercise physiology. He has published nearly 100 studies in sports performance enhancement, as well as has lectured in seven different countries.

-- Rhea played football for three years at both UNLV and Southern Utah University. He received his bachelor of science degree in physical education from Southern Utah in 1998, a master of science in exercise science and physical education from Arizona State in 2001 and a master of science in sports management from American Public University in 2016.

-- Rhea earned his doctorate of philosophy in 2004 from Arizona State with an exercise and sport science academic focus and an athletic performance enhancement research focus.

And both Ballou and Rhea worked at IMG when Moses went there and he's a huge fan of them.

-- Former IMG Academy coach Kevin Wright called Ballou and Rhea “game changers” in an interview with The Indianapolis Star, as the duo produced immediate results for his team.

“It made a huge difference for us, in multiple ways,” Wright told The Indianapolis Star. “Not just for the increasing in speed and strength, but a cut in the number of documented injuries, as well as the gains we made during the season.”

No more injuries:blessed:
