Christian Harris, ILB, Alabama: How talented do you have to be to start at inside linebacker, the fulcrum of the Alabama defense, as a true freshman summer enrollee on Day 1? Well, it hasn't happened since Don't'a Hightower in 2008. Now consider that not only was Harris a summer enrollee, but he didn't even play linebacker in high school, instead lining up at cornerback and kick returner. Yet he's already running with the 1s alongside Dylan Moses. How good is this guy going to be?

^^^^^^Pretty crazy

And/or might be another piece of this slow/slight decline of Bama Defenses over the last few seasons.
LSU thought buddy was soft.

maybe. but that's too contrasting styles. georgia had a month to prepare for it and they got gassed, indoors...y'all should of scheduled a cupcake so y'all could look ahead.
We should have scheduled a Power 5 squad that's going through a transition like Louisville or Oregon state or somebody like that. I liked when we played BYU. They are a good team but not that good where we can't get by on athleticism.

He's just that good. He's our biggest LB and has the cover skills/athleticism of a corner:whew:

10 early season games that should have college football fan bases worried:

EARLY FREAKOUT GAMES

The Dash examines 10 August/September games that come with high emotional stakes. They would be great to win — but also really bad to lose, no matter who loses. What overreacting fans will say if their team drops this one, extinguishing a lot of offseason optimism in the process:

Oregon-Auburn (21). When: Saturday. Where: Arlington, Texas." data-reactid="20">Oregon-Auburn (21). When: Saturday. Where: Arlington, Texas.

If Auburn loses: “That’s it, get rid of him. I don’t care how big the buyout is. I’ll donate from my Toomer’s Corner toilet paper fund. Gus Malzahn has got to go, and has got to go now. We can’t be losing to a team from the pitiful Pac-12. Tell ol’ Tuberville to stop this crazy political campaign and come back as the interim coach.”

If Oregon loses: “Doesn’t matter what we do in Pac-12 play now, this torpedoed our credibility. Our conference is useless and affiliation with it is dragging us down. Fire Larry Scott. And while you’re at it, fire Mario Cristobal, too. He can’t do. He’s just a recruiter, not a game-planner or game manager. Phil Knight needs to get us Pete Carroll.”

True shyt...
:russ:
Oregon better not let me down this weekend:francis:Need Herbert to have a great game.

We aint got time for that. We start the season playing an option team. That crap takes up all your prep time.

Man when these coaches gon learn Never schedule an option team! They hard to stop, hard to prep for, and they beat you the hell up and you only see one a year. I dont really see the benefits football wise

Im not worried at all. He'll be a starter but will be the 1st one out when we go nickel which will be alot. And watching his HS highlights he was a physical WR/CB and it means he's athletic and shouldn't have too much an issue covering guys out the backfield or spying QBs. He's not the signal caller so as long as Dylan gets him in the right spot and he knows his assignment i think he'll be aight.
I mean he was bullying them other cats on the field both offense and defense

That 1st dude he steamrolled on the block :heh:

You guys hearing all the hype about how Jake Bentley has been having great practices all camp. I hope that this is true, but I feel its going to come back and bite Champ in the ass this season. He ain't got Scar backing him up this season and if he plays like he has been the past two seasons they are going to want blood because of who is behind him and what the upstate school did with their freshman last season.
i thought champ babied him too much last year and that cant happen this year. that said he has taken care of the ball in camp and from all accounts has looked better, but i felt he turned a corner last year and he fell off a cliff the last 6 quarters of the season. what gives me hope is maybe that failure at the end of the season humbled him, he's a senior and its now his 2nd year in this offense and while you lose deebo, theres more depth at the wr position and an improved rb core with feaster should bring the best out of him.

though he didnt win the backup job, champ mentioned that joyner will play saturday.
