Gary was a quite star, he wanted to play end instead of dt, he took on many double teams and in one case a triple team, if he did his job right he wouldn’t make noise in the stat department but his role would be the basis of trouble for any team playing, he had his lazy moments, too many times i saw him get defeated by a single blocker, or be undisciplined on his rush arc, but that’s on him not coaching either he has it in him or not, and ultimately that will be his nfl career, he can literally dominate or bs and end up out the league in 3-4 years
See Urban would have convinced him to play dt, and coach Johnson would have had him a top 5 pick. Imagine Maga Bosa and Chase Young at the ends, with Gary and DreMont Jones in the middle.

“Coach Day told me he wasn’t going to take (a 2021 quarterback) until the end of summer or anything like that because he wanted to make sure everything was all good, so I didn’t really worry about all that during my visit,” McCarthy told The Athletic, according to SB Nation. “But I didn’t get that feeling when I was there. I really didn’t, with all the coaches there and how they interacted with us, I didn’t feel the big family tradition part of it. It was either you’re good at football or you’re over here.
