Answer my question first. My entire premise is about winning national championships, and you brought up coaches that have had a few 10 win seasons. Who among those coaches you named without having top 5 classes has won a national championship?
Zero.

Now answer my question, how many active NCAA head coachs have a national championship?

Then everything I said rings true. My whole point is that recruiting rankings will tell you who will win the championship every season.

Only active coaches I can think of are Urban, Saban, Jimbo, and Dabo. The coaches who have recruited the best. Only LSU and USC have been in the running for recruiting as well as OSU, FSU, and Bama over the past 5-6 years.
Dudes love to use that National Champion barometer when that shyt is damn near a pipe dream to accomplish
The hell else are they playing for? They're going for the national championships. And the teams that recruit the highest rated players are the ones that win them way more often than not.

I'll say this, at one point Georgia and Notre Dame was pulling in heat, they could not smell the chip, until that one year ND fell into one, Clemson had talent for years, they finally had more, plus Dabo was smart enough to find great coordinators, and get out the way, but every year it was someone on their defense going 1st round.
Having top 5 class is good but this is not a black and white determining factor into great coaching, you really think Dabo had better athletes on that field than bama ??? 5 stars does not always equate to good talent, I feel a lot of them boys get that shyt off bias, half them 5 and 4 stars wash or never even sniff the league so were they really the number 4 (insert position here) recruit, coaching them boys up is way more important than the level they are classified, bar none nick is a defensive mastermind, he got that from belichec I think he gets the most out of his talents and puts his people in a position to shine because he never ask them to do what they can't, hell he sent so much regular ass talent to the league he needs to be in the homeboy hall of fame, it's literally a plethora of dudes who might not of hit the league if not for him.

So 4 coaches out of 119 and you're still trying to use a National Championship to define what a good-great coach is?

Do you know what percent 4 out of 119 is? :usure:

Why are you equating your point to mine? I didn't say only national championships means you are a good or great coach. You're not making any sense. I said that recruiting rankings way more often than not will tell you who will be the national champs. This whole thing started because you said recruiting rankings are overrated, and I said they are not because the facts show when you recruit at an elite top 5 level, it pays off. Yeah there are one off teams who overachieve. And yeah there are teams that underachieve. But the majority of the best teams are the ones that recruit the best. Period.

Not when you don't have the coach to pull it off :yeshrug:

If Lane Kiffin was the coach at Bama they would be nowhere close to what they are now.

Right, this is what has fukked the SEC up in the past few years when it comes to the hiring and firing of head coaches, trying so hard to copy what Alabama and Nick Saban has done but the reality is that we're doing some historic things. There's only been 4 dynasties in the past 30 years of FBS CFB: 80s Miami, 90s Nebraska, 00s USC, and 10s Alabama.

Wrong FSU from 87-00 >>>>>> USC in 00s and 90s Nebraska

Has Lane Kiffin coached a team with like 7 straight number one ranked classes?
