There's still probably a pretty good chance Tua might transfer to Oregon if he doesn't win the starting job over Jalen
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised. I wonder if he would have considered USC more if they didn't have Darnold. Along with the fact that Tua loved Oregon so much, what always made me think we had an outside chance was the fact that Bama is so far away. He seems to have an involved family and traveling to the west coast is so much easier. For Tua's side though, he was in a tough spot in that if Oregon sticks with Herbert he won't get to play, same with USC. That is what surprised me about him committing to Bama is that they just gave the job to a Freshman, so if he doesn't win the job he won't get to play.

He's never been scared of the competition, when he committed everyone thought freshman Barnett was going to be our QB. That's what I like about him his intangibles are off the charts just like Jalen's. He is faster and a better passer as well. Not near as strong, but getting him in early he will be plenty strong enough by the time the season starts. Idk I kind of want him to win the job so he doesn't transfer, but I'd feel really bad for Jalen

The media loves Herbert. He looked very good as a Freshman, with a team struggling around him. Actually a lot of the media believes he will be Oregon's second best QB ever after Mariota.
What will be interesting to see is how Willie's hiring affects Terry Wilson. Word was Wilson looked very good in spring ball and practice. Despite most thinking Herbert was further ahead, they thought Wilson wasn't far behind. Herbert isn't a statue and can move a bit, but isn't the athlete Wilson is. Wilson doesn't have quite the arm Herbert does. With Helfrich as coach Herbert was going to clearly be the starter next year. Wonder if with a philosophy change from Willie, if the battle between Wilson and Herbert for starter next year may be a lot closer when practices hit, than is getting publicized right now.

The crazy thing about Tua is he went to Mariota's HS, considered Mariota his football idol, had reached out to the U of O and said once you offer me I will commit, and they still chose to ignore him. It will be interesting to watch as they both progress, but Helfrich's staff apparently preferred Ryan Kelley (going to ASU). :patrice:
Must have been serious ether when the best players in the country came to Nike for the SPARQ championships and scrimmaging and Tua was regarded as the best QB there (moreso than the previously thought of best QB - Tate Martell).

I think it'll all depend on Willie's offense he'll be implementing, either way, I'd rather have Herbert who seems to be able to sling it but it's a statue like you said versus someone who is faster but isn't as proficient as a passer.

Yeah I saw he was Hawaiian and came from St. Louis HS and he reminded me of a shorter, lefty Mariota. I would love to read anything about that story if you know where I could find it about Tua reaching out to the Ducks and them turning him down.

I don't see Tua transfering from Alabama unless he doesn't perform well in camp because I don't think Jalen is as good of a passer as Tua looks to be and not as fast either.

Love your takes on UO and info btw. Appreciate your perspective dude :salute:

Rankings don't really mean shyt at this point as there's a ton of politics on where they should be ranked like what school did they commit to, or what all star game they played in

I agree but i bet you would prefer a team filled with 80% 4 and 5 stars than a team filled with 2-3 star recruits.

Letting Ducks fans know about Tua and his distinct ties to Mariota. Says an Oregon offer would move them to the top of the list.
