How are y'all feeling about Stidham so far?

I hope we yank his ass when Gus starts doing that Tubershell bullshyt after we get up by a couple td's. If we're just gonna run the damn ball over and over again I'd rather have Nick Marshall part 2 taking snaps. :salute:
He's been doing okay. He's improved. Still holding on to the ball too long sometimes. But Stidham ran the ball well last week tho :Ehhletsseewherethisgoes:

Does Syracuse make a bowl game this year? They're 4-4 and last 4 games are @FSU, Wake Forest, @UL, Boston College
Their defense is solid but their offense seems to be predicated on the big passing play. It’s boom or bust offense imo, which might falter against WF’s or BC’s defense. They should go at least 5-7, I think their best opportunity is prob BC and WF. Can’t see em beating Louisville if they got a shootout going on but UL gave up 50 to BC so :manny:

Probably the first week they let him run a real read option. Of course w Gus, it was in response to LSU literally not paying attention to him

He can throw it, but you have to be gritty to win a championship. I feel about like him like I do about Matt Ryan at this point. Probably a little better about Stidham, but I felt from the beginning he was coming to Auburn to get his draft status as high as possible for however many years he's at AU. I feel like we have a better shot to win it all with Willis and our boy Gatewood. They seem to have that fire to win, that Nick and Cam had. They will do whatever they have to do to make a play. I don't feel that way about Stidham. He looks like he goes along with whatever the coaches tell him and that's fine to get to 8-10 wins, but at some point he has to make the offense take on his own personality and lead the team on tough scoring drives. Which ironically I think Sean White was doing that, but he just didn't have all of the ability Stidham has.

He might be afraid of getting hurt, and I can understand that after his history. I just feel like 10-11 wins might be the ceiling with him at QB as long as he's there. That one game we need might not be in him when the time comes. He seems like a copy of Brandon Cox to me....I'll give him the edge on athletic ability over Brandon though.

This could be true. I mean we only have 2 scholarship QB's on our roster. But yeah he does have to step up sometimes when the going gets tough, gotta start converting tough 3rd downs. (He did that last week on that 15 yard run :ehh:)

Only thing about last week is, I can't get excited about beating down a team that's already been beat down numerous times this year. That Arkansas team is probably the worst team in the league at this point. Bret is probably going to get fired. When it got tough against LSU, the coaches let us down and the players didn't make plays. Stidham has to show he's going to tough it out for the team, so the fellas will say "All right, let's get it"...He's not what they hyped up to be athletically coming in, and he isn't going to outrun defenders like LSU had, or Georgia, or Bama. He can pull it down and get a quick 3-5 yards every now and then.

But I think the real answer for quarterback runs, will have to be Willis. He's just quicker taking off and faster in the open field. I don't think we'll see that in the situations we need to with how Gus and Chip are handling QBs right now. They might surprise me though.

Read option is on the QB, Stidham never kept the ball
I dunno man. I've heard that Malzahn's offense has never been a true read even when Marshall was running it. I've heard they call which player will get the ball pre-snap but that could be message board bullshyt. :manny:

I know for a fact that they don't let the quarterback make any audibles, which is so fukking limiting it's unbelievable.

I'm so frustrated with this damn situation. It's like we're going to always beat the hell out of the little guys and shyt the bed against the big boys, putting us in a position where we have to decide whether to gamble and fire his ass, then maybe get Chizik part 2. Or just hope Malzahn can get over the UGA/Bama hump at some point.

It takes a QB with extraordinary athletic ability to make Malzahn's offense look the way it did with Cam and Nick. We just might have to wait a year or 2 to get that look back. I don't think it's time to fire Malzahn right now. If he doesn't start recruiting dual-threat QBs every year from now on though, I think it's clear he doesn't see what everybody else sees about his offense. It doesn't win without a great athlete at QB. Even Dabo has noticed that at Clemson, and is doing it better than Malzahn right now. I don't care if we lose some big games down the line getting that QB ready, but if he isn't in the backfield then Malzahn is still trying to make something work that he doesn't know how.

Well we'll see next week. This is the tough part of the schedule. The only thing I've had a problem with our redzone stuff.
I'm :snoop: every time we're in wildcat in the redzone even though it works most of the time. Might as well put Willis in then if they're going to keep taking Stidham off the field in the redzone
