Coaching matters, anyone saying otherwise is moronic. Hoke won 5 games, Harbaugh won 10 games, same team + an Iowa backup QB & Jabrill Peppers.

I could type a 1000 word essay on the stuff hoke and harbaugh did different, it was like going from a bicycle to a Lamborghini in 1 season

As usual Swag is going to the extreme in his argument. Everyone agrees talent is necessary, but its more than that.

If coaching didnt matter, Tennessee would have won 10-11 games last year. But Butch Jones 1) is a bad in-game coach and 2) hired an awful OC who doesnt know how to utilize spread talent. Should have put away Oklahoma, Florida, at least. If Urban Meyer was coaching Tennessee, for example, those wouldve been wins.

Go look at Dobbs passing stats, he was sorely underutilized. Now yall still waiting on your breakthrough season.

Art Briles built a power at Baylor with JUCOs and 3 stars to kick things off.

Jim Harbuagh had to beg Stanford admissions to let 3* star recruits in, somehow got to 11 wins in his last year.

Jimmys and joes only though, right?

Well if that's your argument then we dont have a disagreement.

When I say coaching I only meant the Xs and Os on gameday and the week of prep.

If you're including recruiting in coaching then no shyt that is important in college football because without elite players you don't have an elite team.

Well '09 LSU was so talented they overcame Les bad coaching but when they faced an equally talented team in Bama the coaching gap between the two got exposed.

Now you see this is the correct argument.

When talent is roughly equal factors like coaching and home field advantage come into play.

But you could give me Alabama's roster and I'm sure I could get them to 8 wins.

Touche.

I should have said you can't win in a real conference like the SEC without recruiting at an elite level.

Gimmick teams can win in weak conferences like the Big 10 and Big 12.
Gimmick teams like Auburn who recently won the sec :mjlol:, your pretty bad at this swag.

Auburn has top 10 recruiting classes every year.

The debate was over teams who win even when they don't recruit well.

You'll never see a team outside the top 20 nationally in recruiting win the SEC.

That happens routinely in almost every other conference (props to the ACC for being the only other conference where elite recruiting actually matters).
