What people have to understand is that after the 7th Floor Crew and the FIU brawl, the war that waged forever between Miami the Top Tier Academic Private School With Outstanding Scholarly Reputation and The U was decided, and academics won. The school (and a ton of the alumni, and most of the ones that really matter) were sick of their school being known primarily for being The U and all that entailed.
Nowadays, the team plays games 45 minutes away from campus, problematic players are cut immediately, and the only time you hear about Miami in the news has nothing to do with football, but about some sort of achievement at the hospital or in research...the way they want it.
Of course everyone would like a winning football program, but they absolutely no longer want to be a football school.
And it isn't, mission accomplished.
