Free agent Al-Farouq Aminu to visit Trail Blazers, per report
Joe Freeman | The Oregonian/OregonLive By Joe Freeman | The Oregonian/OregonLive The Oregonian
The Trail Blazers do not have a small forward under contract for next season. But they do reportedly have one lined up for a free agent visit.
According to David Aldridge, Dallas Mavericks free agent small forward Al-Farouq Aminu has scheduled free agent visit with five teams, including the Blazers.
His visit is not unexpected. President of Basketball Operations Neil Olshey drafted Aminu when he was with the Clippers and knows his game and background well.
Aminu, 6-foot-9 and 215 pounds, has played five NBA seasons. He averaged 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game last season with the Dallas Mavericks. After playing in 74 regular season games, including 71 as a backup, Aminu was featured more — and played better — in the playoffs.
He started two of five postseason games against the Houston Rockets, averaging 11.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.6 blocks per game, while shooting 64 percent from three-point range (7 of 11).
The three-point shooting was notable considering Aminu, a career 28.6 percent long-range shooter, has hardly been a lethal shooter during his career.
In five seasons, Aminu has played for the Clippers, Pelicans and Mavericks, averaging 6.4 points and 5.3 rebounds.
He'll definitely be a great bargain to whoever signs him, I wouldn't mind him on the Knicks myselfIf he keeps working on his three point shooting and that carries over into next season, he'll be the steal of free agency. Would love him on the Lakers.

I hope the Blazers get him and I think they will. We currently don't have a single small forward on the roster. He'll definitely be a great bargain to whoever signs him, I wouldn't mind him on the Knicks myself
I think he'd start for any of those teams he's visiting.I hope the Blazers get him and I think they will. We currently don't have a single small forward on the roster.
I think a potential starting spot will be hard for him to pass up.
I really dont see expirings having as much value this season with the cap explodingYou think we have any chance of trading Nene this season? @FAH1223 @mastermind
It's no big deal if we don't just wondering and glad that Wittman has embraced "small ball"I really dont see expirings having as much value this season with the cap exploding
Why didnt ya'll draft Portis ?It's no big deal if we don't just wondering and glad that Wittman has embraced "small ball"
That Oubre pick was a clear KD move all because he shouted him out on Instagram. I wanted Portis so bad I thought we were finally getting our stetch 4 for Wall. What is the salary cap supposed to jump to for the 2016-2017 season? Why didnt ya'll draft Portis ?

I hear Nene is reluctant to play Center?I think Oubre at 15 was BPA.
I wanted Portis too but Oubre has a higher ceiling... its an unusual move for us since we rarely swing for the fences and instead go for safe picks...Plus our wing depth is terrible behind Otto. Pierce is gone too.
@Black I doubt we trade Nene... he's gonna play more Center next year.
Humphries and whoever we sign in FA is our hope for stretch PF... or someone with our TPEs
