That's the point. They need to acquire back assets for him to accelerate the rebuilding process.

I don't think Melo sees that he's on a rebuilding team and when it finally hits him he won't be happy.

Who would trade for him though? Celtics? They have a bunch of role players and picks, would they give up picks for an aging Melo since they are looking for a star? The Nets for Joe Johnson's contract and have them throw whatever picks they have left over? If Melo wanted to be traded, he would only go to teams on his preferred destinations since he has a no trade clause in his contract, so it would have to be a match? Bulls for the Kings pick maybe?

You gotta remember Melo's max is going to be a tier below after the cap jumps.

I don't know where he would land but he's going to want to contend his window is closing quickly.
