He got an upgraded version of his $16 mil opt in he had. He gets $4 mil extra and gives the team flexibility next year. He'll probably sign a multi year deal at a much lower number next year. The $20 mil is a sign of good faith on the team's part, and the 1 yr deal is a sign of good faith on Wade's part.

why not just pay Wade 30-35 mil for this season, with the understanding that he will be taking smaller contracts from here on out to help with cap flexibility?
