The Timberwolves have a crucial choice that can set them up for the next decade. Between Okafor and Towns they have to make the right choice and it's critical that they study these guys thoroughly and take the best player available. Not just the position that they need help for. Okafor is potentially a 20 and 10 type dude in the NBA and those are rare to find. But Towns ceiling could be 25 and 12 with dominant defense and that is even rarer to find. But on the low they could run the league in a few years if Wiggins keeps developing and they draft one of these guys and he goes on to become the player he is supposed to be.

Won't make a diff either one can be all time great depends on who tutors and teaches them. Lakers whoever they pick has a serious chance of hof career because the lakers will throw KAJ coop Kobe magic Byron at him and they'll help ease him in. If kg and some other veterans help out their pick will be fine

Defense will be a huge problem for them if they're paired together, neither one of them are shotblockers and you'd be able to go at them in the paint.

Okafor has the tools to be Marc Gasol or Bogut on defense. He just has to be committed to it. I like that he has already loss 10 pounds since the end of Duke's run.

It's not a matter of being committed, he doesn't have the size of Gasol or Bogut, those guys are 7 footers, Okafor is 6'9" and change without shoes. He's going to be able to score, but defense will be a sore spot for him and becoming elite will never happen.

Just for comparisons sakes -

Kanter is 6'11.25" in shoes, Okafor is 6'10.75" in shoes, look at how Kanter looks next to a legit 7 footer. That is the relative size difference between Okafor and Bogut/Gasol.

Wingspan for a big man isn't as important as standing reach, he has a 9'2.5" reach which is only 1 inch more than Kanter, while most of his measurements are similar to Boogie's this is where they really differ cause Boogie is at 9'5". Expect him to get his shot blocked a lot next year while he learns to adjust to taller & more athletic defenders.

He's going to be an offensive player that has to be paired with a PF that can defend, that is part of the reason why Towns is projected as the number 1 pick, because the assumption is you can play him at PF where his length & height is greater than the average for his position while Okafor will be shorter than some centers.
