I'm not saying Tenn won't win, and I'm not saying they don't have better athletes at certain positions.....but this ish is absurd.
Here how I break it down:
QBs - HUGE edge to Tennessee. I don't even think it bears argument. Dobbs is simply better. He's more explosive, has more arm talent, and is more proven.
RBs - edge to Oklahoma. Hurd is the best RB on either team and I believe as a combo Hurd/Kamara are as good as Perine/Mixon, however, Oklahoma is deeper. our 3rd RB right now is a 3 star true freshmen. he's shown good ability but he's still a freshmen.
WR - edge to Tennessee. sterling shepard = pig howard. after that Tennessee is better down the board. we're 6 deep with talent. 4 guys that are 6'3" or taller. all are fast and with good hands.
OL - slight edge to Tennessee. IMO this position group decides the game. whoever gets better o-line play will win. I'm simply going with Tennessee cause we're in year 2 with this line while Oklahoma is at year 1.
DL - edge to Tennessee. Barnett and Maggitt are all-american caliber defensive ends. with two freshmen starting at LT and RT for Oklahoma, they should be impactful.
LB - edge to Oklahoma. Tennessee is starting a walk-on at MLB. although he's just a place holder right now for a super talented true freshmen (Darrin Kirkland Jr.----a guy Oklahoma desperately wanted), that alone should give Oklahoma the edge.
DB - edge to Tennessee. the game against Bowling Green was an abberation. starting FS was missing. 3rd best corner was missing. DB coach was missing. and we're probably not gonna face a better QB the rest of the year than Bowling Green's QB. he's projected as the MAC player of the year, a legit NFL prospect. and he threw some sick throws saturday that were just special. Cam Sutton is a stud. projected 1st round pick. Todd Kelly Jr. at safety is special. DBs are a strength for tennessee not a liability.
I think Tennessee wins 35-17. Game will be similar to A&M/ASU. Close in the first half. Both teams trade blows. Tennesse's pass rush overwhelms Oklahoma late. Tennessee pulls away in the 4th quarter to make the score look more decisive than it was.
