Notre Dame RB Greg Bryant ineligible for 2015 season

Notre Dame RB Greg Bryant ineligible for 2015 season
Notre Dame running back Greg Bryant is ineligible for the 2015 season, head coach Brian Kelly announced on Tuesday.

“There are certain expectations within our program that must be met on a daily basis,” Kelly said in a statement. “Quite simply, Greg did not meet those expectations.”

Irish Illustrated's Pete Sampson reported that Bryant fell short of the necessary grades in summer school.

Greg Bryant Sr. told Irish Illustrated that his son needed to attain a B+ grade in summer school to be eligible, but he received a B- in the class. Bryant is expected to return to Notre Dame on Aug. 22 as a student but will not participate in the team's training camp.

Bryant remains on scholarship and will practice with the team. In late June, Bryant was suspended for the first four games of the season after a violation of team rules.

Navy to play Notre Dame in San Diego in 2018

Bryant ran for 289 yards on 54 carries with three touchdowns as a sophomore last season.

Tarean Folston is the lone active running back on scholarship that remains on the roster. C.J. Prosise is expected to spend some time at running back after working mainly as a slot receiver in 2014.

Notre Dame opens the season ranked 11th in the preseason coaches poll and will face the Texas Longhorns on Sept. 5 in South Bend, Ind.

fukk they mentioned Auburn, SI jinxing ass will suck everyone in their black hole

I wouldn't be surprised to see Prescott get left by the bus on the way to a game :mjlol:
I initially had yall winning the sec. Saw yall only got 4 starters returning on O, might have to rethink that :patrice:. Giving yall the benefit of the doubt with Muschamp sewing up yall D. Don't no who to pick in the sec now, qb's gonna have to prove themselves, minus Dak, but who knows, lots of POTENTIAL talent at that position

I'm gonna break it down as unbiasedly as possible

QB: The spot is just overall better, we all have the general feeling Jeremy is better than Nick, and some of us felt he was better last year. Sean White is an accurate white QB with some mobility, and Tyler Queen is a capable third string. We have a former JuCo QB that now plays receiver if it gets that bad.

RB/HB/TE: We lose Grant and CAP, but Jovon and Roc T. are HUGE improvements over those two. Jovon is a bruiser type with very good speed and Roc has put some weight on to go along with his home run speed this offseason. We lose Uzomah (a great TE) and Fulse, but they sucked dikk at blocking, and we barely even used them (because that would've required Nick to read them being open). We got the former #1 FB in the nation blocking at FB now and a good hybrid TE/FB in Kamryn Pettaway

WR: We lose Sammie, Quan Bray, and I believe that's it here. We got deeper at this position, and I think the coaches are really comfortable with this spot going forward. I'll spare you another paragraph, but the guys we lost here have very capable looking replacements.

OL: I believe all we lost here was our center Dismukes, and we return our former starting RG Alex Kozan who was an all American in 2013 then got hurt before 2014 started. With him out, and no real FB, the running game RARELY clicked. We have a transfer Center from OM's godly 2013 class that is supposed to be the truth from practice reports.

TL;DR, a lot of our expectations ride on potential, but it's potential that looks very good and Malzahn does very well with very good potential :takedat:. P.S none of the guys we lost had as big an impact as the guys (the closest SEC projected winners) Alabama lost this offseason.

Brehs Auburn has never gotten this much love preseason ever, pretty much everything Ive seen has had us in the CFP, or at least top 5

Even the analysts who haven't took a cop out and say things along the line "that if they develop, they could make the playoffs"

Feels good :wow:
