rivalry game. u can never put much stock into those. michigan almost beat ohio state the last 2 years. florida state struggled with florida. alabama losing to auburn 2 years ago when they were clearly superior. plus it was a home game.

like i said earlier. arkansas blanked ole miss 30-0. i guess arkansas can lay claim to being the best team in the country as well?

They were the best team in the nation prior to the Bama game from the eye test. That's was their peak things went downhill from there

compared to what it was in the past? hell yeah. however, it was still the best conference because the rest of the college football is so weak. ohio state is nice. but the rest of the big 10 is a mid-major. florida state is nice, but teh rest of the acc is wack. the big 12 sucks IN ITS ENTIRETY. the pac 12 is meh. nothing to write home about. by default the sec was the best once again. but it was a significantly down year.

the fact miss st and missouri had so much success eventhough they are filled with 3 star bums shoulda told us all the conference was down.

but this year, the SEC should be at probably its strongest levels SINCE 2009-2010.

2013 - 5 of the top 10 recruiting classes were SEC schools
2014 - 7 of the top 10 recruiting classes were SEC schools
2015 - 6 of the top 10 recruiting classes were SEC schools

these players will now make up the bulk of the class thanks to the bums from the 2010 and 2011 classes leaving. plus the 2012 group was nothing to write home about. its the main reason Ohio State won last year. the 2013 class came into its own at the end of the year and dominated the less talented upperclassmen. those guys made up most of Alabama and Oregon's team.

Lay off Miss St the last 4 years their lowest recruiting ranking was 33rd. Highest was 18. That's not bad

they only got good at recruiting last year thanks to the success. the reality is their a low tier program. they don't recruit at an elite enough level to compete every season. ole miss under hugh freeze looks like they'll be able to compete at a high level for years to come thanks to the elite level of recruiting they've done.

miss st, arkansas, mizzou, kentucky, and vanderbilt are the low tier teams in the SEC. IMO you need to recruit top 20 year in year out for me to consider you a legit program.

After that fukked up start, Auburn had like a touch down lead in total scoring and had the opportunity to cut it to 8 but ended the drive on a pick (who cares at that point though)

Damn that coaches poll is crazy. ACC/B10 gets no respect, a combined 5 spots in the top 25 (as expected, two pretty bad conferences)

B12 has 3 spots themselves

the hell have they done to deserve respect? they're one team conferences. both are terrible. only the SEC can legitimately be considered an elite conference. the pac 12 has its moments, but this year it'll be down. big 12 is terrible and so are the big 10 and acc.

realistically college football is about the SEC, usc/ucla/oregon, florida state, and ohio state. tcu and baylor are chumps riding high from a down texas and oklahoma.
