:heh: 2-3 5s and SEVERAL OTHER 4 STARS. Sure.

Tennessee's staff cut loose 2 kids last week. One of them a 4 star DE. If you're gonna tell a 4 star DE to look around saying his scholarship has been revoked, then the staff must be confident they're gonna land some bigger fish.

Like I said. We have a hard cut off of about 20 spots this class. 15 commits already. And we're actively recruiting about 10-12 other 4 and 5 star prospects.

Tennessee's class is gonna look very different in 6 weeks when NSD approaches. I think we land Nigel Warrior (he's a legacy, son of former Tennessee great Dale Carter) and one of the 5 star studs ( Derrick Brown and Mecole Hardman). Plus a couple of other 4 stars.

Final class ranking will be in the 8-12 range. Which is pretty good for signing 20-22 prospects.

I know recruiting isn't in your wheelhouse so let me educate you. The reason we're not in the top 10 this year as has been custom the last 2 years is because we only have 15 commitments.

Because Butch Jones had to revamp our entire roster the last 2 years, he took overloaded classes. Signed 30+ in 2014 and 29 in 2015. This year is the year we gotta pay back those overloaded classes so we lack the 25+ available scholarships to give out. As a result, Tennessee only has room to sign about 20 players. We had to let go of 2 players just this week cause we're approaching the scholarship limit and we have to save spots for several top prospects that have interest in us but haven't decided yet.

If you look at the average star rating of our 15 commits it's a 3.53. Good for #9 in the country. Only reason we aren't that high is because we're low on scholarships. In terms of player quality, we're still recruiting the same caliber of player. We just can't take as many.
Yu guys are really goin to regret losing Christmas-Giles I seen him play not too long ago and he was unblockable.

We didn't lose him. He stabbed us in the back.

We offered him in spring when he was a 2 star nobody according to all the services. He missed his junior year so nobody knew anything about him. We offered largely off his spring practice tape (word to our scouting staff). He had no power 5 offers before us. He commits without ever visiting the campus. Then this fall he blows up just like our staff thought. The kid makes it from 2 star nobody to the #82 player in the country according to rivals. Then LSU offer him a week ago and he dumps us.

fukk that nikka. :pacspit:

@O.iatlhawksfan what is it about LSU that got these Louisiana kids twisted? I swear no other in-state program has such pull with the recruits in-state.

We offer this kid months before LSU, he commits. We show him mad love for MONTHS. Then the second he gets the LSU offer he decommits.

If it was me I would hold a grudge about being slowplayed. But Louisiana kids don't mind. They'll jump on that LSU offer no matter how late it is.

Once again you show your ignorance of recruiting. Rivals and ESPN only count the top 20 prospects toward the recruiting rankings. So signing 30 mediocre players doesn't artificially boost your standing.

Tennessee landed back to back top 5 classes based on QUALITY not quantity. We signed more 5 star and 4 star players the last 2 years than everyone not named Alabama.

Please educate yourself a little more before speaking on this subject.
First, I don't know why you cherry pick the recruiting service that best suits your argument every damn time. Anybody who follows recruiting in 2015 uses 247 composite rankings since it combines every service and takes away clear attempts at bias.

Next, since you want to use the average star rating and "quality," that would mean that Tennessee didn't have a top 5 class last year like you claimed.

2015 Football Team Rankings

Clearly, there are 9 other teams with more "quality" by way of average star rating than Tennessee.

Even looking at 2014, 2014 Football Team Rankings , Tennessee isn't near the top 5 in average ratings (based again on your "quality" standard).

Stop it with these cherry picked sites to suit your argument, and look at the real site next time before trying to argue recruiting.

I say it's just having good recruiters. Some people say they just love being home but I don't think thats true. There was a time when we couldn't get any of these in state players to stay instate. Although LSU has become a huge brand these days they're 2nd biggest only behind the Saints. But not everyone flips when LSU offers look at Dak Prescott he stayed loyal to Miss St.

So I'm watching the 2001 SEC Championship game, that Tennessee team was so close to playing Miami but LSU had other plans. It seems like when Rohan Davey got hurt and Mauck came in, Tennessee started sleep walking and let LSU back in the game. Them damn Clausens were all over the SEC :scusthov: I seem to forget CBS having their games in HD in 2001 too :pachaha:
