Sunday's episode was probably the best episode of the entire series. It was probably the best episode of all the TV I've watched this fall. Deserves award nominations.

The rape scene was spot on. I felt sorry for the girl. I feel sorry for all rape victims. But running a site where people can anonymously claim rape against whoever they want to is completely unacceptable. I think Don did an amazing job of proving this, without crossing the line as coming off as some kind of rape sympathizer or whatever.

No. No. No.

That was an embarrassing story arc. The idea that Don has to "believe" the rapists because there's no proof is tremendously offensive. I love this show and I love Aaron Sorkin, but that scene/story was a bad as each of them is capable of being.

I dont think thats what happened at all. I dont think Don ever said he "believed" the alleged rapists...in fact he says he finds their story sketchy, and he said he has no reason to think what the alleged victim said isnt the truth.

The point is we cant hold trials in the court of public opinion. People will invariably become wrongly accused, and wrongly convicted by the public.

He literally says he "HE HAS EVERY REASON TO LIE, BUT I'M OBLIGATED TO BELIEVE THE SKETCHY GUY." I just watched that scene again.

And as much as I love his work, having a man make the decision FOR THE VICTIM, to not do the piece, is when Sorkin is at his worst.

Alleged victim. Thats the point where it looks like me and you disagree on.

I dont think the word "believe" was meant to be taken literally. I dont think Don was saying since there were no charges, that means he thinks those guys are telling the truth and shes lying. I think what he was saying is that hes obligated to protect those who have not been found guilty (not even tried...not even arrested), especially when her version has no witnesses nor any corroborating evidence.

When watching the episode in its entirety its obvious Sorkin made it kinda ambiguous as to what really happened (if it was in fact a rape) but I think he made it apparent Don felt like there was an actual rape. But to the bigger picture whether or not those guys raped her was kinda irrelevant. The relevant point was creating a public forum for anonymous people to claim they were raped by other people. Theres nothing to stop me from posting on that website that HHR raped me...then going on your facebook page and sending the links to all your friends/teachers/bosses or some shyt.

I also dont think Don "made the decision" for the girl. I think he wanted to persuade her not to do the show. Which regardless of how you feel, is the right call. They would have turned a newsroom into the Jerry Springer show. 2 different versions of a story put on the air...the general public taking sides and slinging mud back and forth. Both of their lives could potentially be ruined...the only people that profit would be ACN thru the ratings boost. Thats the problem Don had. I thought he was showing genuine concern for the girl. I still felt it was ultimately HER choice whether or not she would do the show, but in the end she agreed with him.

I thought the part where he said something like, "this type of rape.." and she interrupts him and says, "there are no types of rape. you are raped, or you are not raped. i was raped" or something to that effect was cool too. I wish we lived in a world where that were true. Fact of the matter is thats not the way it goes. There are varying degrees of consent, and varying degrees of rape....some of which are more heinous than others. Just like there are varying degrees of murder (homicide, manslaughter, etc)...and varying degrees of theft (shoplifting, grand theft auto, etc).

I read something about this girl. She had consensual sex with a guy. While in the act, he flipped her over n started hittin it doggy. While fukkin her from the back he stuck his thumb in her a$$hole. She was saying that although she gave him consent to penetrate her vagina, she never gave him consent to penetrate her a$$hole. So therefore, she feels like she was raped. Its really tough for me to imagine that guy deserves to go to prison for rape...which is why I support the idea that there are different types of rape.

I don't think Sorkin made it ambiguous at all as to whether the girl on the show was raped.

And when Don tells Charlie he couldn't find her, he is absolutely making the decision for her. She clearly didn't agree with him. His intention may have had as much to do with journalistic integrity as with protecting the girl, but he still made the choice for her.

the bigger picture whether or not those guys raped her was kinda irrelevant

That is the problem.

I said get the fukk out of here out loud 4-5 times last night.

Retconn Jim as a guitar player so he can take part in the final jam? GTFOH
Apologize for lauding the bravery of men who make decisions for women by having Maggie determine her own career path? GTFOH
Mac hangs out at the bowling alley from the started from the bottom video and drake isn't even there? GTFOH
Reimagine the origin stories of Leona, Jim, Mac and Don to make it seem like the finale was what you planned from the beginning? GTFOH
Neal comes back from Venezuela, is reinstated by Pruitt and shuts down ACN digital from his phone? GTFOH
Use physical appearance to determine inner morality in the most predictable way since Richard III? GTFOH

What was that tie that Don gave Sloan all about?

it was charlies tie...he wore it in a few episodes.

i saw it kidna like as a passing of the torch. and with that, remember how guilty both don and sloan felt about charlies death. i thought it was charlies way of saying, "its not your fault. i actually agreed with you the whole time." i guess charlie knew how much of a toll this was taking on his health? he gave it to don, who then gave it to sloan cause she felt guilty too. which is kinda fukked up. you cant really bequeath a bequest you got from a dead guy, unless you yourself are going to die.

i also read about some don quixote connections...but i never read the book so i dunno.

all and all it was a good series finale. all the sappy shyt, and all the lovey dovey shyt was stupid to me. but i expected that.

i still think it was one of the best TV shows we've seen in the past decade.

Brehs.

On some real shyt, this finale was Grade A piffery. One of the rare finale's I've seen where I feel genuinely content with everything having watched it. Really good writing in this shyt. Not even any corny romantic scenes. Maggie, Jim, Mack getting their come-up's. Sloan on that G-shyt and Don the mufukking Gawd winning without even taking the promotion. The flashbacks weren't even corny and tied into everything perfectly.

Neal came back and handed out that potent ether. Maggie even handed Sloan that ether. bytch hit her with "Sloan... you're dating my ex-boyfriend right?" :leon:

Jane Fonda crushing every scene she's in for three seasons straight swagging in every single shot too.

I feel some kinda way about this shyt getting cut, but at the same time I ain't even mad that it was only 6 episodes. Very good Season 3 ended very well.

Salute the real nikkas holding down the commentary in this thread along the way :salute:

Why couldn't the entire show be on the level of season 3:to: every episode was fire. If the first two seasons had been like this, this show would have been a classic.
