Yep! Aaron Sorkin wrote the Social Network. Aaron Sorkin is probably my favorite tv writer next to David Simon and this show just proves his genius once again.

 From my experience of being in a newsroom (internship) I'll just say I met a lot of drunks (perfect for me being an alcoholic), and the bosses are just foul. They won't hesitate to say fukk your mom or something worse than that off the strength of you fukking up. I can't wait for this show to come on

Worked in a newsroom for four years total. Not sure any profession employs more functional drunks. That and the ppl there have the most shockingly morbid sense of humor imaginable. Nothing is off limit; that's how you cope. When I left I had to learn to tone that shyt down.

Show was crack.

Think I'm adding this to my list of favorite shows. I'm a journalism major so I probably gave the show extra points before watching it but I can't take anything away from the quality of the pilot.

I knew they had me hooked around the beginning of the BP story coming together. By the time she opened up her notepad and "It's Not" "But It Can Be" showed up, show was :wow: status. My only issue is the piano coming in the background letting you know this is an important emotional moment. I hate that shyt.

Edit:
Also, while the Skinner character (drunk old guy) is likable, I can't fight the feeling they're biting Bert Cooper from Mad Men :yeshrug:

That opening rant was baby boomer trash. This current generation sucks, it was so much better back in the day (when racism was rampant, women has less rights, and we didn't have to deal with this internet business), blah blah blah. You didn't scare so easy? So what was the Cold War and the Cuban Missile Crisis about? fukk off with that nonsense.

After True Blood's camp, this was a bit overwhelming. It hit too close to home. It took me back to my horrific journalism internship at that elitist paper (that shall remain nameless :violent:), that was the definition of NEPOTISM. :pacspit:

Sam Waterson loopy character reminded me so much of my favorite journalism Professor Mancini. :pachaha:

It was better than I thought it'd be. That's to say, not awful (based on that opening rant).

The Good:

- The back-and-forth dialogue was on point in that classic Sorkin fashion.

- The broadcast of the show (and the behind-the-scenes) was riveting.

The Bad:

- Hated all of the speeches. Thought it was funny when McAvoy said that MacKenzie's speech did nothing for him, because I felt the exact same way. Too preachy and idealistic. Sorkin has no grip of reality.

- No story as big as the Gulf oil spill is gonna be completely broken like that in 5-10 minutes. If only journalism were that easy. They tried to excuse the (incredibly implausible) angle of the guy having a big sister in Halliburton and a college roommate in BP, but then they wanna take credit as being better than the other newscasts because they could break the story as a search-and-rescue? Get the fukk outta here.

It was probably a B-/C+ premiere for me. Hopefully it gets better.
