Trump openly stumping for LIV Golf now, threatening PGA Tour players. You can't make this shyt up.

"All of those golfers that remain ‘loyal’ to the very disloyal PGA, in all of its different forms, will pay a big price when the inevitable MERGER with LIV comes, and you get nothing but a big ‘thank you’ from PGA officials who are making Millions of Dollars a year," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

"If you don’t take the money now, you will get nothing after the merger takes place, and only say how smart the original signees were."

Trump is against big corporations like the PGA, LIV is just a small group of humble businessman that started with just a small loan from their fathers :troll:

LPGA commissioner sounds like she can't wait to do business with the Saudis:heh:

"As long as we get that bread, don't matter if women can't drive cars in Saudi Arabia" :dead:

I hope Chuck takes the bread and creates generational wealth for his daughter and grandchild.

Anyway, it won't be considered "blood money " the minute LIV gets a TV deal.

I don't mean their desired endgame, I'm asking what the actual outcome for the game of golf is.

There are golfers who are never going to leave the PGA, sponsors who will never associate with LIV, historic and elite courses that will never have a LIV event. All the classic tournaments that aren't going to stop being PGA tournaments. So are we just looking at a permanently split game from here on out, where dominating the PGA Tour is easier than it has been in decades but competition in LIV is weak as well? Is LIV going to forever keep giving star golfers giant appearance fees as if it were an exhibition match? Limited events, 54-hour tournaments, shotgun starts, no cuts, guaranteed money, is that the new normal?

I don't have any super-deep attachment to professional golf. If it dies it dies. But I'm not seeing a "good" endgame here unless the Saudis get bored and move on to other endeavors at some point, like chopping up journalists or bombing brown people or paying off local imams to force women into burkas worldwide or any of that other shyt they enjoy.
I think you’re wrong, the pga will eventually bend over to LIV, it’s a losing battle at this point.

The pga has no morales, there just going through the shock phase right now because there no longer in full control

So is the endgame that both exist, but the PGA just lets players play in both?

Shoulda picked up a club when I grew up :wow:

Unless you have access to serious resources you never had much of a shot. Only a few dozen guys will get paid via the LIV model and the vast majority would be ones who came from significant privilege to pay for top-quality clubs, lessons, greens fees, etc. from a young age.

It's billionaires tossing their crumbs to a few millionaires so that they can whitewash their image and keep fukking over everyone else.

Controversial Saudi Golf Tournament Morphs Into Mini Trump Campaign Event

Tickets for the controversial Saudi-sponsored tournament at Donald Trump’s New Jersey golf course were reportedly going for as little as $1 and crowds were scant — but Trump and his fans tried their best to transform the tourney into a mini campaign event on Saturday.

Spectators sporting shirts bearing pro-Trump slogans in the grandstand behind the first tee erupted into chants of “Four more years!” when the former president emerged in a red “Make America Great Again” cap for the second day of the foreign-funded tournament at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster.

Later, Trump was seen raising a fist at the 16th tee while watching the action alongside self-described Christian nationalist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who came to the event to applaud the Saudi tournament — and MAGA fanatics.

Trump fan Dave Teed, a local firefighter at the event, told Golfweek that he “can deal with” the Saudi Arabia “thing,” but if it was “China or something like that, no way. I wouldn’t be here.”

As for the actual tournament, Washington Post writer Rick Maese scoffed that it had thin crowds, big talk and loud music blasting from speakers across the course, “even as players lined up tricky putts.”

I don't know whether to :scust: or :russ: or :mjlol:

while these LIV events look like glorified exhibition matches / friendliest, Finau is putting up big numbers in competitive matches

Exhibition is right.

46yo just Hendrick Stenson won after leading wire-to-wire. He hadn't won anything other than exhibitions since the Wyndham Championship 5 years ago.

Event #1 was won by the World #125, with World #142 coming in 2nd

Event #2 was won by the World #120, with World #119 coming in 2nd

Event #3 was won by the World #174, with World #83 coming in 2nd

LIV is more or a threat than I thought. I just got wonder where this takes the sport. I still struggle with how much people want to watch exhibition play. Will only majors matter even more than they currently do?
