This was the first time I questioned the series. The portrayal of Kingpin threw me off a bit, i'll be honest. I know D'Onofrio to be an excellent actor (Full Metal Jacket is a favorite), but he came off as stilted and awkward. Turns out that's exactly what they were going for. And they made the shyt WORK. He's a childlike, super vulnerable looking, out of control dude who is barely holding it together on the one hand. I was like "What's goin on...", and then by the end of ep 4, with that uncomfortable ass beheading its like oh yeah, this nikka is a killer.

By episode 8, I had come to a full understanding. Dude never fully grew out of that moment with his dad and is socially awkward...Vanessa essentially controls and focuses him (as it has been in the comics) and he becomes smarter and more calculated. Love the interpretation. It's much deeper than meets the eye, and being that the MCU is so straight forward with most characters and they have so much time to flesh him out in this series, i'll go as far as to say he's the richest character within the universe thus fatr.

The 3 "major" deaths irk me more as I think about them. Urich especially feels like such a fukking error. In the comics, Matt and Ben's friendship is an enduring thing that means a lot to the character. To take that potential off the table does not seem like a good idea. I mean, life will go on. But taking him off the board sucks.

Wesley's death irked me to a lesser extent. I had grown to love the way he and Fisk played off of one another and he was an awesome protagonist. I got an Owen from Gargoyles turned up to Mature Audience levels vibe. His demise provided some great development for Karen, but I hate that it had to be him.

Owl's apparent demise is another one that threw me off. I felt he also had a lot of potential, and hoped his little power move against Fisk resulted in him weaseling out for revenge to come later. But nope...we had to have Fisk kill him. Like he killed Ben. Wilson Fisk, just murdering characters I want to have stay around.

I really liked all three and would have preferred for them to have survived. I think they could have easily been retained for another season. However I think they removed them to transition and set-up other characters into their roles. The role Wesley had will be given to Fisk's wife who looks like she will become a big player and start running things in his absence. Wouldn't be able to work with Wesley sill being there. Karen Page will be the new investigator like Ulrich. Though I think they could have still done that without killing him off. An exit story was already presented. On The Owl they kept mentioning that he had a son who shared his name. So they could always bring him in for a revenge plot against Kingpin.

I swear, as great this season been, it grates me more than I think about it on how much they dropped the ball on the season finale. I have a pet peeve with shows that wants to rush everything and wrap it up in one neat fold. Everything contrasted to how this show was written and directed in the previous episodes. Things like The Owl's monologue-ing, the contrived plot twist about Hoffman, the forced in scene so we can have the final fight between Kingpin and Daredevil, even HOW Kingpin was exposed rubbed me the wrong way... it's as if all that methodically structured storytelling was thrown out the window just to wrap things up and throw everything and end it with your typical happy ending. It saddens me how MARVELOUS this show is that the season finale tarnished it a bit.

Just finished it and here are my thoughts
I don't think Owlsley is dead, or at least I hope he is still alive.
This had been the best Kingpin I've ever seen in any media....that includes the comics.
Why they had to kill Ben like that lol....the whole time watching, I was thinking they're not gonna kill Urich...still I loved the surprise
fukk Karen Page
I still feel indifferent about the suit:yeshrug:

10/10 for me

Where is this two year plus wait time for season 2 coming from? Steven Deknight nor Marvel have never said when season 2 of Daredevil would air. All they have said is there will be an Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage series. Daredevil season 2 could conceivably be released in December 2016 if they want.
