Ok, there were less teams back in the day but the same teams kept winning the championship anyway. I agree the talent is spread a little too thin but that wont mean more teams will be winning titles. Whichever 3-4 teams are the cream of that smaller crop will still take the lions share of the championships.

For example lets say 5 teams were contracted and those players went into a draft. Are any of those players better than LeBron, Wade, Durant, or Westbrook? Very unlikely. Plus with the increased cap that would come from the contraction Miami and OKC would be able to sign another good player or draft one from that pool to streghtnen their team again.

The NBA should not have guaranteed contracts. Like the NFL you can drop dead weight like a dude like Eddie Curry. This guy is an anchor dragging teams down with his ridiculous contract. He should have been out the league years ago.

What's that gonna solve. This year they sign DeSagna Diop to a max deal, then next year, they cut him and sign Michael Olawakandi to a max deal. True enough the contract won't hurt your cap long term, but they are still stupid contracts. Don't give out stupid contracts and you won't have any problem.
