Buck Williams and Marques Johnson are not in the Basketball HOF.
edit: I see what you are saying. He is a finalist, which is way above what he was, IMO.
Marques Johnson shoulda been in the HOF and has a better case than Marbury. He was the first point forward and was a legit great player.

This was a loophole for a specific period of time when guys couldn’t get to the league easily. Kukoc, Dino Radja, Marcellionas, etc. It was a niche period of time that is never happening again. Since that time it’s your NBA career that determines HOF. Ricky Rubio is not making the hall of fame. Rudy Fernandez is not making the hall of fame. Carlos arroyo is not making the hall of fame
With that said, Marbury had just enough NBA success and was a next level icon in China so he should be the last player that gets in for international contributions

Yea it’s a long list of guys who got that benefit of the doubt should not be in.
Radja, Marcellonas, like let me get this straight you came over in your prime, didn’t play at an HOF level, but essentially got a waiver implying ‘if they woulda played sooner they woulda been HOF’. The only player it should apply is Sabonis and Oscar Schmidt types. Shouldn’t even apply to Kukoc either
Thr worst is Vlade divac. He came over at 21 had a mid career but made the HOF literally only bc he was foreign. It’d be like putting Serge Ibaka or Luol Deng in the hall which of course they won’t and shouldn’t
