I think Yao Ming is already in the HOF partially for this reason.

Is it? What came from it? Do we have an influx of Chinese talent making it's way to the league? Do we ever hear anything about Chinese ball besides people joking washed up players need to learn chinese?
I'm genuinely curious what made it so important because I gotta be missing something.

allegedly, china accounts for a half a billion of the NBA's revenue and they expect it to continue growing. if american viewing habits keep trending downward, the league is going to need china, and it looks like china is actually a good market already. china may be what keeps the league financially healthy while they figure out how to improve it so americans will fall back in love with it.

and in the future, they may contribute players as the talent pool matures.
