There’s always others we can factor into this. I’m sure Thomas Piketty was inspired by someone else, but I don’t think it has anything to with what is going on now. As I mentioned Hon Elijah Muhammad who spoke on this before Thomas Piketty.

I’m not sure what you try to achieve with what you’re doing here?

“The Freedmen's Savings Bank was a result of the efforts of the friends of the Afro-American in the North to find a means of elevating the newly emancipated race. Organized in 1865, it grew rapidly and established branches throughout the South. It later failed because of dishonesty and incompetence. Fleming traces the bank's origin, growth, decline, and failure, and he indicates its effects upon the blacks. Originally published in 1927.“
Uhhh, achieve the fact that Piketty wasn't mentioned by them until they fell out with Darity.
He's the scab crossing a picket line he didn't even sign up for. Not the inspiration :unimpressed:

Before Thomas Piketty Hon MLK spoke on this case as well, as did Hon Elijah Muhammad. Dr. Sandy Darity talked about trust funds, that’s the important part.

“The first recorded case of reparations for slavery in the United States was to former slave Belinda Royall in 1783, in the form of a pension, and since then reparations continue to be proposed and/or given in a variety of forms.”

“The 1865 Special Field Orders No. 15 ("Forty acres and a mule") is the most well known attempt to help newly freed slaves integrate into society and accumulate wealth.

However, President Andrew Johnson reversed this order, giving the land back to its former Confederate owners.“

As I said, I’m not sure what you try to argue.

i'm more than familiar with that clip and you're digging into the overarching message i've always said:

reparations has BEEN an ongoing effort. Internet Ass leaders like Yvette/Tone and Tariq, along with their Internet Ass followers have bought into the ILLUSION that they're actually shaking shyt. together: they are INTERNET ASS MUHFUKKAS :ohlawd:

once again, NANN one of them have anything to do with what's going on in California. NANN one of them has anything to do with any of the reparations proposals that have happened elsewhere across the country. they're literally social media influencers-- that's it. criticisms are valid, but there are legacy organizations with actual relations to congress. when the HR-40 hearing happened, they showed up. Tone and Yvette went to church and reminisced on 1619...
..with Sandy Darity :stopitslime:

"I can agree with someone who is completely and openly against my prosperity because we not a monolith!"

:mjlol: :russ:

The same dumbass contrarian and willingly dissonant logic this John Tanton-groomed right wing agent pushed on black people for years came back to bite her in her own ass! This is gold!

:russ:

I guess whereas she has no problem distorting, perverting, and disuniting black people for her own agenda, she thought she can still find a logical unbroken solidarity in black womanhood...once again for her own agenda.

I bet she was genuinely angry and confused for a moment that someone can really use some made up psuedo-intellect of "having my own opinion. I'm not part of a uniform monolith" to be such a spineless enabling coward towards an obvious enemy. Real frustrating huh?

:russ:

And to think this chick, while secretly serving the board of directors for right wing front groups, was the unquestioned crown jewel of loyal black armchair militants for a hot minute. Like the second coming of Malcolm X until someone with even less shame about manipulating and capitalizing on black people that cant think for themselves about politics owned the straight up Republican dikk sucking and right wing bigotry she she kept p*ssyfooting around and stole her hustle.

Now she ain't shyt, begging "new black media" to give her attention as a political leader and stop taking seriously someone else who saw how easily her aimless right wing-adjacent contrarian nonsense can be exploited.

She regressed black politics into this psuedo-intellect of disunity amongst each other and enabling our immediate enemies as much as possible in order to prove "we not a monolith" as the answer, because this eploitative and contrarian stance worked for her youtubing brand. And now she's a victim of her own shameless exploitation.

Chefs kiss. fukk this bytch and everything she "contributed" to black politics today. She should go to the local Caribbean bar and share her grievances with Stacy-Ann over a warm oxtail soup. Always warms the heart.

You are conflating the topic and issue.

Point being is that Tone and Yvette had Dr. Sandy Darity as the starting stepping stone. This is not about who came long before him this and that…

Dr. Sandy Darity has been laying down the groundwork for what we know now in the digital age. There’s others as well. But we speak of the people that directly were involved with what became ADOS and later the FBA. Both go back to Freedmen. Tariq can be considered a social media influencer, Tone and Yvette not. Although they did use social media to get their point across. Dr. Sandy Darity is by no means a social media influencer.

What’s going on in California came out of an ADOS chapter.

This guy going by Information Man, is part of the California reparations committee.

yeah you might be missing what i'm saying. i'm not kissing nobody's ass cause they got a cellphone and hashtags :unimpressed: especially the type that'll burn bridges cause they looked on their cellphone and saw somebody retweet another hashtag. i literally know better. the fact that Darity didn't attend the first and only hearing for federal reparations (and he got an invite) should speak volumes to you, but apparently not. Yvette and Tone's rise is due to Twitter and YouTube, they are by all means social media influencers. Darity is like a remora fish... just riding the wave.

Dr. Sandy Darity has been going around the country addressing the issues of racial wealth disparities for over a decade. That’s to point I’m addressing. He has influence in the academic world. And from there it can trickle down. But in your mind he’s just “riding the wave”?

13 - 14 years ago Dr. Sandy Darity spoke of baby bonds and trusts funds. The problem is that guys like Tariq (9th grade high school dropout and cohorts) started to interrupt the process.

This was uploaded 9 years ago, but considering the quality I think it’s much older.

At this point you’re just saying anything…

Once again: When the first and only reparations hearing occurred-- and he was invited to speak-- what did he do?

WTF is the "Angela Project"?

I, nor you know the importance it had to him. I don’t know how religious the man is etc. nor do you.

Posting memes like a 6-year old is not going to explain anything. Would I have made that choice he made, probably not.

I've TRIED logic and it's not breaking thru :mjtf: you literally got me repeating myself. And I don't care about his religious beliefs... the man could've been a Saint, and he still could've prayed til they called him to the mic and had the people at the Angela Project do the same.

I mean if anything, wouldn't an INVITE to the first & only hearing be a sign from God? :what: Oh I get it now... you're one of the last souls out here actually reppin "ADOS" :laff:

Of course this debate is older than all these people. Long before this it was addressed as the “40 acres”.

Forty Acres and a Mule
Walter L. Fleming
The North American Review, Vol. 182, No. 594 (May, 1906), pp. 721-737 (17 pages) .

I do think they can be credited for a resurgence and making it popular during the digital age on social media. And ADOS actually had chapters all over the country.

I remember Hon Elijah Muhammad talk about it at a saviors day.

The "negro" mindset that we as fbas had in the 19/early 20th was predicated on us being the only ones around in the west, for the most part

its not the same thing as a defined-crystallized ethnic identity

edit-same thing with "colored" and black really

You nor I know how he deals with his religious relationship. People who are religious fanatics have odds ways…

As I said, I would have made a different decision. But I’m not in his position.

The conditions during the Jim Crow era were different. So it’s understandable.

Black Americans have been the vanguard.

And I do think that if it was not for all those domestic terror attacks, America and the modern world would have looked different. With Black Americans on top, as the ruling class.
