I'll prob discuss the trip to the TMBS live show on my podcast so if you don't wanna read all this, you can prob wait for that but just in case, I really wanted to let yall know what a dope night it was.
Fam...The whole TMBS crew is cool as hell. They came out about an hour before the show and just kicked it with everyone. So I got to talk to Ben Burgis about his book and the debate series he's worked on with the Serfs. Harvey Kaye grew up around Bergen County which I've moved all around for a big chunk of my life, so we had a great convo too. Matt Lech recognized my brother and I because we always come out, dude is chill as hell. He gave us some advice for our podcast and options to add video and we talked about how much work goes into podcasting and life outside of that ish too. Michael was mobbed by people but showed love on coming in and on the way out really showed us appreciation for always coming out too. So even though he was on the move all night for good reason, he made sure to stop and show love which was really cool. Griscom also kicked it a bit but he's another one that got pulled aside a lot.
We also had a great convo with Matt Binder. We were talking about how Occupy Wall Street really did set the stage for the growth on the left we've seen and we chopped it up about a lot. That dude is cool as hell and I let him know I way too often sleep on Doomed (his podcast) but I'ma change that.
As far as the show goes, fam it was hilarious. Michael's impression game was on point and everyone went in on Iowa with some funny ass moments. Matt Binder did a Larry King on Rubin bit that bodied me. Brandon Sutton is always good, but this was probably my favorite appearance from him because dude had everyone laughing. Alyona always has great chemistry with everyone on the show. Harvey Kaye had my favorite section of the night, running us through a history lesson on FDR and some misunderstandings about him as well as how he was attacked by the wealthy...essentially what to keep an eye out for as Bernie gains momentum. Ben Burgis did a run down of five examples of awful logic in the news cycle with Michael's ad-libs on top...it was legit hilarious. I saved a great bit for last too, David Feldman was a surprise guest fam. He pretended to be in New Hampshire and played the character he's been playing on MR and TMBS recently. The show closed with a clip of a Lula speech from before he turned himself in that was inspiring AF.
Some other notes, the TMBS crowd was pretty diverse. There was a wide variety of ages and styles with a decent chunk of PoC as well. Everyone was cool in the crowd. The girl next us was a stewardess who lives in FL and happened to be in town so she came through to watch the show. We had a funny convo. I have some fam in FL and just came back from vacation, my brother lived there a while, so we could all relate on the Trump Support we've seen in FL.
Then on the way out, I got Dr. Burgis to sign my copy of his book like a damned fanboy, but I am a fan. Dude has helped me with discourse and his book is really informative on a topic I think we could all use lessons in (Logic). We also caught Feldman before he left and gave him props. Dude seemed genuinely happy to hear it and talked a bit about the prep he puts in which was great.
All in all, really dope night. And I'm going in on all the people I met and how cool they were because if you're a big enough fan to jump in this thread frequently I really think you should check a live show if you get the chance. The TMBS community is a really great group of people from the people on the show to their supporters. It's really refreshing to jump in a group of likeminded people like this, especially after the mess in Iowa and all of the gas-lighting going on. These heads are hella supportive and encouraging too. I copped a hoodie to support their movement, shyt's pretty fresh imo so I'ma get use out of it too. Again yall, go check them live if you get a chance, it's a great experience.
