Average animal size was about that of a housecat and no need to bring on animals who lived in seawater. Genesis 7:1-5 breaks the types of animals down between 'clean' and 'unclean' and only 7 of one type and a pair of the other. This isn't to be taken literally, but many do.

If this is not to be taken literal, Why should other stuff in the bible be taken literal?:skip:

There is not a chance I will be ever become an atheist.

But I love these videos because it shows the Bible and religious text can't be taken literally. Religion tried to describe the secrets of the universe, but I don't think they made a lot of progress towards this goal.

The great unknown still fascinates me and I think no single religion can claim they have all the answers.

Seems like religious folks and atheist have one thing in common, they don't want to explore the many possibilities of the great beyond.

What atheist doesn't want to explore possible answers? Atheists generally just don't accept answers that aren't objectively verifiable. They're open to the idea of some creator being for the cause of the universe ... but don't accept it as fact until there is solid evidence of that being.

I didn't think I'd become an atheist when I was younger. You never know how your beliefs might change.

I was under the expression atheist believed only in "eternal darkness."

I'm pretty sure I'm older than you, I'm 31, and I find philosophy better equipped to help understand the secrets of life than religion. Religious doctrines are too restrictive. I'm not non-religious, because I don't ignore the significance of prophets inspired by the other side.

Eternal darkness? Not sure what that means but no... Atheists just do not believe in God.

You don't ignore the significance of prophets? I don't see how that's relevant to your position on the existence of a god. I acknowledge the effect these people have had on the masses, I just don't think there is anything supernatural about it.

Because archeology, history and non-Biblical sources back up many of the stories/sites in the Books. As far as Genesis is concerned, I already made a thread about what the intent of that Book was all about (in-theory).

the ark was a submersible and Noah did not take actual animals.
he took DNA samples just in case the flood was so bad that it did wipe out entire species.

for real.

The Japanese made a movie and used that exact scenario. Can't recall the name of the flick, but it's about 3 hours long. Good sci-fi.
