unpopular opinion: mass effect 3 ending backlash is over blown:camby::camby::camby:

The issue is the entire trilogy is pushed by this narrative that your choices over 3 games will affect the ending and then you get there and the decisions don't affect shyt. I LOVE this franchise, and don't even really hate the endings as much as the rest of the people do, but the way BioWare and EA were gassing this shyt up was criminal. They needed to feel the fire because the writing in 3 went way left when there was so much they could've done better, and on top of that they had to drop extra content to explain shyt because the ending ultimately didn't make sense and wasn't fleshed out enough.

Is ME3 that bad?

ME3 is fantastic, as is 1 and 2. The writing unfortunately just didn't hold up well when you really get into the universe that's been created via 1 and 2.

The whole invasion of Earth was lunacy and made no sense at all. One dead reaper was fukking up an entire solar system but the opening scene of ME3 was some shyt out of Earth Defense Force or an old Godzilla flick. Then Andersen's rambling and THIS nonsense ass, trash scene where Shep doesn't just get regular PTSD but this Star Child/Catalyst legit timefolds to guide him to the decision at the end of the game.

Its just beyond stupid. And thankfully, the Mordin/Wrex stuff happened soon enough after this that people forget how dumb this intro was, EDI becoming a party member was, and the ridiculous Cerberus cyborg ninja stuff. By the time ME3 ended, it was just catharsis.

Reapers should not have been fukking up Earth the way they did. They should've turned that bytch to fukking DUST floating in the middle of space. A reaper invasion on Earth?!!??!:dahell:

Reapers was taking their sweet time with that bytch...:mjlol:

They came to earth specifically for sheppard...and humanity cause they was the most dangerous and greatest harvest material... :mjpls:

What pissed me off was that sheppard warned the shyt outta them since mass effect 1 and they fought 1 big fukking reaper and they still wasn't ready!!!:deadrose:

Mass Effect either needs to be handed to another developer or just let it rest and dead the franchise. Mind you we're still waiting for Dragon Age 4 and it has no date so why bother with this tease? The last game in the series was so mediocre I just put it down when Persona 5 came out and never picked it back up again. Likely never will.

^This.

Reaper invasions (they went to every system) made sense to me: they can't really glass all the planets Halo-style if their mandate is to preserve life (by killing off advanced species) so they'd have to go planet-side to kill everyone.

Just my thoughts:
1) See above why the Reapers coming down to the surface was a thing. The only Reapers that are a global threat are (were) Sovereign and the Capital-class ones. All this talk online making the Reapers out to be like gods is ridiculous: yes, they're strong but they're not immortal and they can be destroyed (as we saw in the 1st game). It just takes a fukkton of firepower.

2) What was Anderson rambling about? All he did was stay to lead from the front like a real one and reinstate Shep and have him go get help.

3) The Starkid thing was dumb, no arguments here. Especially if you played as a renegade and was like fukk that little kid anyways. :yeshrug:

Yeah, the ending wasn't the best but I'm not sure exactly what ending would have satisfied everyone. If Shep lived some ppl will complain that it wasn't realistic. If Shep dies, ppl would complain about that. Granted having to choose three outcomes (or no choice at all) and handwaving the logistics behind some of those outcomes wasn't the best bet either.

I played Mass Effect on the 360, but I couldn't play long since it wasn't my console.

If they come out with a proper remake with next gen graphics, physics, and frame rate I'm down to play.
