Can we just wipe Andromeda off the history. The game was basically Dragon Age with Mass Effect costumes.

Na i was always soldier class first. Then tried out other styles on different playthroughs
I only say this because there was 1 dude bytching on Twitter about "some of us connected to Ryder, what about Andromeda? and Gamble replied with "you should wait and see"
Besides, in the trailer you hear "Ark 6 is away. Godspeed" that's one of the arks that went to Andromeda.
Andromeda sucked, but it wasn't because of the story's main narrative or what Ryder was supposed to be.
Ryder by itself isn't a problem - the do everything supercomputer that rarely lets the character make any sort of meaningful decision, the horrible cast, and the dozens of NPCs who stay trying you like a bytch even though you've kicked the value-brand enemies in the mouth are though.
I'm very okay with Shep being dead and gone for the record.
You're not wrong. I'm just saying the idea of being a pioneer the way that Andromeda intended to be was definitely something to work with and could've been special. The way that worked with the gameplay and how they put it together though was an absolute mess.I disagree.
NakeyJakey gave a name to something I've always hated in video games.
But, the cognitive dissonance between the theme of a game and the gameplay.
GTA 4 is about Niko feeling guilty about his violent past...as you are allowed to kill thousands of people--and have to kill hundreds--to get through the story.
Last of Us 2 is supposed to be about the cost of violence, but, there is no pacifist playthrough. And the killing is super detailed and fun to do. And Abby is made out to be a good person despite being as violent as Joel.
Andromeda is supposed to be about discovery and newness. But, the game starts off with basically everything (the crash land, the mutiny, people from Milky Way have already gone on multiple planets) having already happened. The Angraren trust you always immediately. You don't do anything but go around planets and press buttons in temples to make the planets habitable.
Nope, you chase a "Thing" nobody cares about. You have to do it before a bad guy, nobody cares about.
This.
I think if they recon anything, it should be the Extended Ending.
- The galaxy isn't in infinite peace after the Reaper War
- Shepard is dead as a doorknot
- We don't really know what happened to our crew...except Liara of course
- The Citadel fukkED UP Earth.

Everything significant to the setting happened off-screen and before you even arrived, all of what makes you special isn't really earned or even truly acknowledged by the rest of the world (not just the Pathfinder status, but the fact that you have the strongest Deus Ex Machina function in the known universe in your head), and your crew or 'peers' are fukking trash. Hell, for someone called the Pathfinder you don't exactly discover much of anything. And there's not much to find either. The new race they introduced was incredibly garbage, the alien structures were depressingly unimaginative, and its just kinda by the numbers in the worst way possible.
I think a lot of that can be fixed by simply having a competent staff on it instead of a B-team without oversight. Every one of those things gets stopped early in the development process and the game becomes passable immediately the team wasn't even bad really. That combat system proves they had talent.
I didn't really see it that way, I just saw Ryder as the guy that fixes problems. I never really cared to be a part of the events that happened prior to me reaching a planet.
Idk man, I thought the story was fine. It wasn't really an issue to me.
