The movies are centered around the Skywalker saga, and I think it's too convoluted at this point & boring. The entire Star Wars universe is so much more than the Skywalkers, and The Mandalorian showed how they can make new stories outside of the saga in live action form & be great just like the animated stuff.

No doubt. I always thought Star Wars was so much smaller in scale that it could be. There's the huge galaxy as a back drop and yet everything being centered around one family got old after a while.

I know some people don't like how serialized Mandalorian comes across with the side quest episode vibes, but to me it's refreshing. This is the first piece of Star Wars media that has really opened the windows to other cultures and people within the galaxy. It's great to get to see life outside of the Skywalkers, and it's also great to see smaller scale stories. I've missed smaller scale stories in cinema in general. Every action movie now for example is world-ending stakes. Toned down action/adventure stories are sorely missed on the big screen and the small screen.

When did Boba get a paint job?

I wondered this too. He must've refurbished it between last episode and this one. The obvious answer to why he did is probably to sell toys, but I was trying to guess a canonical reason for it, and I assumed either:

1. It had been out of his possession and worn by someone else, that the battle scars on it no longer were just his, and therefore he was cool with fixing it up.

2. He's been out of the armor for so long that he feels sort of reborn, and gave it a fresh coat of paint to symbolize him starting over with it.

Yeah, if she's the lead I don't think that show will have a lot of legs. She can't act for shyt and so far it's a very one note character. Not sure there's a lot to work with that character. A mini series with a 1 big missions could work I guess, but a serialized style like Mando? idk (unless she's also just a side character on the new show).
