This show is what Star Wars needs. Less nostalgia plays, and more importantly, getting the fukk away from the same tired Skywalker saga, Jedi/Sith feud, and scaling down from such high stakes where the fate of the galaxy is on the the line.
Mandalorian is why people liked Winter Soldier after the previous Avengers movie. It's why John Wick is popular. Too many movies and shows these days have the fate of the world or the universe at stake, and it's refreshing to tell stories with smaller stakes.
Also, the action on this show is way more grounded and realistic, so to me the tension feels way more powerful.
The Star Wars galaxy is supposed to be so large and massive, but this show is the first time it's felt like Disney is comfortable moving away from retreading old material and is trusting us to enjoy new stories.
