I do the same :yeshrug: a lot of these movies and shows have horrible audio mixing

Watching a Nolan movie without subtitles you'll catch 30% of the dialog

I only use subtitles when the setting warrants it. For instance, I am never watching Squid Game with the English dub. I also can't play Ghost of Tsushima in anything other than Japanese w/ subtitles. I even switched it to the native dub in The Predator Hulu film w/ the Indians. Same for Apocalyptyo, though the native language spoken is actually the default. Any other time, I'm turning subtitles off.

Audio mixing bow days is attrcious, barely audible mumbling one scene to ear drum splitting explosion the next scene. It's easier to use subtitles at medium volume

I don't use subtitles but I watch TV shows at home with headphones on cause I can't hear the dialog over my fan.

I watch a lot of my TV Shows on bootleg streaming sites, I'm not even sure if those sites even have an subtitle option :heh:

I’ve found myself doing that too with every streaming app…the only exception is hulu cuz their subtitles look like shyt and are inaccurate…I don’t need it on constantly but every now and then I can’t make something out and have to turn it on then off then on again so eventually I just said fukk it just keep it on

I use it because some of the dialog be low as hell. The Music and action scene's be loud as shyt. Steaming platforms need to fix that asap.
That's not a streaming platforms issue

Audio mixing in TV and movies took a nosedive in the mid 2000s for some reason
