Once I realized the Lottery are a government entity and a source of income for State Governments, that's when I knew it was a scam
But it tells you the odds on the ticket itself. How can anybody with basic, elementary math skills be hopeful about a 1/10000000 chance? Its a stealth tax on the poor.
A way to sell hope (however ephemeral) to the hopeless whilst emptying their pockets and filling their heads with images of what they'll do once they "make it".

I saw your post but my LOGIC still stands…See my previous reply. Logic and reason have nothing to do with emotion and hope, there are levels to the scam:
The lottery is a scam
Most of the lottery goods go to business and administration cost when you talk about teachers and you talk about education for children. 30 percent. The other 70 percent goes to state tax. It a way to tax poor people without them knowing they tax them. It's business sell poor people hope when...www.thecoli.com

Nothing you saying makes it a scam you are overlooking something very simple... the definition of the word. this isn't a scam. you can call it exploitative or whatever else.Whilst I get what you're saying about gambling and do agree with the main point I see the subtleties a different way. Walk with me:
The main players are the poor. One could argue its targeted directly at them. They have little disposable income in the first place and can't afford to be flippant with it but are enticed by the quick hit fix of turning around their life even though the odds are astronomical.
All week long they build an image in their head of what they'll do when they win, how their life will change, where they'll go, what they'll do. That sort of thing. Anticipation builds, the numbers come in and don't match. Rinse and repeat.
Now can you see what damage this emotional yo-yo does to their inner terrain? How suddenly what they have is seen as even worse compared to what they thought they were going to gain? Thats the scam of which I speak, the silent spirit as opposed to the letter of the law you reference and that is an exceedingly pernicious and evil minded way to exploit the fiscal weakness of the already beleaguered whilst simultaneously killing their spirit that could've been used to think creatively in ways to enrich their lives.
I stand by it being a stealth tax though. Just look at where the moneys goes and who profits as well as its positioned prominence and perception pitched purposefully at the poor.
I empathize when warranted. My intuition tells me to read about what I get myself into (the lottery)Ask it if it can pick up your empathy and intuition then you may see as I do. Maybe not. Thats on you.
NOT A SCAMOnce I realized the Lottery are a government entity and a source of income for State Governments, that's when I knew it was a scam
and there you have itI empathize when warranted. My intuition tells me to read what about what I get myself into (the lottery)

people play knowing their odds of winning.
AGAIN life will always be precarious for those who are not disciplined, educated. If it's not this one bad habit it's another. You can't attack everything someone could blow their money on or prevent them from accessing all those vices. you can however educate people to make better decisions. for some it's gambling, others drinking, designer wear, women... habits. habits define people. you learn early to make better decisions because you will be leveraging your decision making skills for the rest of your life. don't learn and you are FOOD. just a fool with money soon to be parted from it.
this is life, if it was a scam it wouldn't be legal. it's gambling. keep shyt practical not philosophical.

Maybe I have a different view of poverty and those trapped in it along with a different insight into the nature of the system that sees them as a resource to exploited.
Really all there is to it. Same reasons the places you buy them tickets are liquor stores and how they proliferate in certain demographics. Its deeper than statistics.
you getting elaborate for no reason. nothing you are talking about broadly makes gambling a scam... the point
