Congrats breh! Despite it being paid for, make sure to put a little money away every month for property taxes which are due twice a year. Build yourself a basic toolbox with quality tools. You don’t need to break the bank, but don’t cheap out on them. Stay away from husky and ryobi stuff. Craftsman and stanley make good entry level tools. Milwaukee, dewalt, and makita are a little more, but worth the investment. For hammers, i always recommend 20oz Estwings.

A basic toolset to me is:

20oz Estwing Hammer
18 or 20 volt screwgun
Large plumber’s wrench
Screwdriver set
Black oxide drill bit set
chisel

Educate yourself on where the main shutoffs are for your gas, electric, and water lines. Water fed things have their own individual valves to shut them off in case you need to service them. Just trace the water line and you’ll find the valve. Also, there’s no need to overtighten the valve when shutting it off.

Righty tighty, lefty loosey

Don’t be afraid to familiarize yourself with the attic and crawlspace. These are your friends when it comes to running wires and servicing plumbing and electrical issues.

That’s the basics. There’s a really good homeowner’s thread on here.

That’s the basics off the top of my head. Most of all, don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty. If you ever have any questions, feel free to ask.
Lemme write all this down
:ohhh:

Just drop a line if you got any questions, even if it’s something as simple as spackling a nail hole (i got good advice for this too). I have a million little tips and tricks when it comes to repairs and remodeling and love sharing the knowledge for those that want to learn. Like i mentioned, don’t be scared to give things a shot. Everything i know has been self taught. I wish i has someone to give me advice growing up, it would have saved me a ton of time and money over these years.

This is moving too fast

We went from talking a funeral to me potentially inheriting a house

This too much

Looks like your 2020 is starting off well already.

I'm happy for you..not too many young men would give consideration to take care of their elders in this day and age. Matter of fact, it's an extremely honorable thing to do for your grandmother, very admirable..your family be blessed bro.

So on the Vanity Youtube channel, they have a series of videos where celebrities discuss what an entire day looks like for them...

Two common things I'm noticing is that they wake up early as shyt in the morning, and take like 4 showers a day.

So I'm waking up late and early showering once a day...clearly this is why I'm poor.
