Movie was good, not as bad as people on here claimed

If anything it seems like it was the exact same movie as the cartoon (Jungle book had differences).

Glover was cool... at first i thought his voice was too light in the ass to play Simba but then i watched the og cartoon and the dude they had playing Simba also sounded young af.

Timon and Pumba was the best part of the movie (Pumba took out more Hyenas by himself than anyone) and Nala/Beyoncé was the worst

Timon/Pumba was straight, James Earl Jones is James Earl Jones, Chiwetal (sp?) was cool as Scar, mother had like one line, and the main hyena was cool.

The children actors were cool too. The only 2 that you could get mad at was Glover and Beyoncé... mainly Beyonce. Chick even sounds like an airhead reading from a script AND she oversang every song like she was singing a church solo.

I'll say Scar was excellent, James Earl Jones was on point, I liked Pumba too. Eric Andre is the homie too so no complaints with his character either

Beyonce was over singing everything, why couldn't she sing like she was talking to Simba normally. It was too much.

I took my young buls to see it yesterday. It was basically the same movie, but didn't feel as epic as the original. The landscape in the original seem massive, feels like this movie took place in a much smaller space. The music in the original is WAY better, Jason Weaver sang for Young Simba way better than whoever they have now. And Scar's "Be Prepared" in the new one was such a letdown. The only thing i liked better in this one was the whole confrontation at the end with the lions and hyenas and Simba vs Scar, I thought that was better than the original.

I feel the same, I don't know if it's cause we are older now but it just doesn't feel as epic and also you're right the landscape doesn't seem as vast in the remake now that I think about it. I still have to rewatch the original to compare it though.

I was excited to see this but it didn't hit right. Beyonce voice just wasn't it, they should have used an actress.

Film was just a little bit of a let down.

I'm not gonna lie, the CGI on this was incredible however it made for a boring film. I don't know what it is about this film but it just kinda drags in some spots and with big names like Beyonce and Childish Gambino you expect this shyt to be epic. I'm very disappointed because the Lion King was my favorite movie as a kid but watching this iteration of it left me feeling like something was missing and I even want to see the Lion king (original) as an adult to see if I really over hyped it as a kid, or if it still holds up and if I still get a little sad even when I watch the scene when Mufasa is killed.

With this said, Disney is a dub for planning to remake all their old films. I say they should let the classics be classic and come up with new stories. If they touch something like Lion King it's too much of a risk, if they try to put a spin on a classic like they did with Dumbo then that's also a risk, it's really stupid and they just plan to bank off of people nostalgia which sucks.

Sidenote: They better not touch an Emperors New Groove.


You don't pay attention breh, his plan was to get the throne from mufasa and to get Simba out of the way by killing him which he partly succeded at. After that, his plan was to get mufasa's bytch and maybe to procreate with her and to rule over the rest of the herd with her in tuck.

He was so jealous of Mufasa that he wanted Mufasa's wife bad and she refused his advances so he failed. His plan was to just be that nikka and to be a king, that's all lol.

I feel you on all these remakes. I wish Disney would remake stuff like Treasure Planet or Atlantis. I feel like those flicks could be Pirates of the Caribbean or maybe even Star wars status if they got the right people behind it. The Black Cauldron could even be remade into something good. I get that remaking classics are sure to sell, but I still feel that they're wasting a good opportunity.

I liked it movie was good imo.. Great graphics.. Most of the voice cast did their job well

...BUT beyonce was not good at all..it was distracting and brought it down a notch for me.

Tezuka Productions should own Disney for that fukk shyt. I don't get how after 26 years they've been able to skate past that shyt.

Just finished the remake, btw. Shyt was trash

The characters lacked the charm, personality, emotion, and conviction of the original. The emotional scenes weren’t as emotional. It looked great but overall felt dry as fukk compared to the original. My wife actually watched the original directly after to wash the taste from her mouth of the new one.
