I'm not gonna lie, the CGI on this was incredible however it made for a boring film. I don't know what it is about this film but it just kinda drags in some spots and with big names like Beyonce and Childish Gambino you expect this shyt to be epic. I'm very disappointed because the Lion King was my favorite movie as a kid but watching this iteration of it left me feeling like something was missing and I even want to see the Lion king (original) as an adult to see if I really over hyped it as a kid, or if it still holds up and if I still get a little sad even when I watch the scene when Mufasa is killed.

With this said, Disney is a dub for planning to remake all their old films. I say they should let the classics be classic and come up with new stories. If they touch something like Lion King it's too much of a risk, if they try to put a spin on a classic like they did with Dumbo then that's also a risk, it's really stupid and they just plan to bank off of people nostalgia which sucks.

Sidenote: They better not touch an Emperors New Groove.

finally seen it the cgi is amazing. But thinking back and now what was scar's plan? to have all the heard killed and ate by hyenus and starve, or die and not have a heir? he should've been smashing those other female lions making him a son instead of his brothers wife :scust:

i wonder if JEJ re did his lines or did they just copy from the first movie.

poor jason weaver they could've just used his singing
You don't pay attention breh, his plan was to get the throne from mufasa and to get Simba out of the way by killing him which he partly succeded at. After that, his plan was to get mufasa's bytch and maybe to procreate with her and to rule over the rest of the herd with her in tuck.

He was so jealous of Mufasa that he wanted Mufasa's wife bad and she refused his advances so he failed. His plan was to just be that nikka and to be a king, that's all lol.

:jbhmm: You got a point, though that Obsessed movie or whatever it was called was pretty good. Did you see that?

Childish Gambino also is super talented though and he made Atlanta for crying out loud.

I wanted this to be amazing but it just wasn't.

Saw it yesterday. Lion King is MY Disney movie (cried when I saw it in 94 and many times since), so I enjoyed the remake, but overall some parts were weird and rushed. They messed up my favorite scene (they cut Rafiki’s “It is time!” line, I mean what the fukk), but the CGI was good, movie was faithful to the original, songs were fine. It’s funny how for how much of a deal they made having a mostly black cast that Favreau gave the three white actors (Eichner, Rogen, Oliver) added screen time in this version. Chewitel also showed out, and James Earl Jones did well redoing his lines. Aside from the song Beyonce and Gambino didn’t seem to put a lot into their voice acting

I took my young buls to see it yesterday. It was basically the same movie, but didn't feel as epic as the original. The landscape in the original seem massive, feels like this movie took place in a much smaller space. The music in the original is WAY better, Jason Weaver sang for Young Simba way better than whoever they have now. And Scar's "Be Prepared" in the new one was such a letdown. The only thing i liked better in this one was the whole confrontation at the end with the lions and hyenas and Simba vs Scar, I thought that was better than the original.

Had to go watch it for nostalgia purposes, my dad took me to the theater like 3 times when I was 5 years old. I enjoyed the movie, it doesnt hold a candle to the original, but it was cool. Beyonce's voice acting was terrible though, should have bushed her other than the soundtrack

Just watched, thought it was a decent remake.

Chiwetel did a good job as Scar, JEJ was great of course, and Timon + Pumba brought the comedy.

....
My repost from TLR

just watched the remake

... it’s my new favorite movie

Please don’t talk shyt until after you watched it

Don’t let nostalgia get in the way of facts

It was good

Yeah but rotten tomatoes panned it

I guess many critics watched it as a child and are invested in not touching the original

:manny:

But it was visually breathtaking

Well acted

Well directed

And very enjoyable

I guess if you love the original and don’t want to see another retelling of the story because of childhood nostalgia skip this one but for everyone else I’d say go see it ...:hubie:

The Truth
Movie is good to me so far. Mainly because I don’t remember the first one much

Idk what all the bytching and moaning is about... but this is The Coli though.

Only thing is, as much as I like Donald Glover and his music, he doesn’t have the vocal range for this. Beyoncé should’ve been replaced with Rihanna because i know she’s going to over sing this shyt with him.
