Saw the PPVs weren't starting in January like the weekly shows. Guessing they prolly holding off until All In since it's their biggest event. Saw it was for a discounted price. Gotta see how much of a discount it would be cuz I have Max. I'm sure paying an extra $5 or $10 a month doesn't seem too bad especially compared with having to deal with streams shutting down or constantly buffering.

They crazy for giving up PPVs imo if the numbers they were doing were truly accurate

Selfishly would have loved to see them do with PPVs what WWE did but that’s a lot of money to cannibalize.

The AEW PPV business is generating easily in excess of $50 million in revenue a year. Over the length of the 3-4 year deal that’s $150-200 million that you’re giving up in the hopes it pays off elsewhere down the line. And when that payoff comes it might not even be until after this current deal ends.

That’s an awfully big gamble to take in a wrestling environment that is not at all friendly for the #2 company with how hot WWE is.

PPV revenue is the one variable revenue source they have that does consistently well, from a business perspective that’s something you have to stick with until the writing is on the wall that it’s not going to work much longer.

Sounds like a pretty good deal. Simulcasting on Max will open up the doors for more eyeballs on the product and that's especially true for the PPVs. Yes, they will be at a reduced price but there will be a lot more people with the availability now to purchase them and it sounds like AEW is getting a split of the PPV revenue.

I didn't see anything about 4K and Dolby Atmos but you would think they'd stream in the highest quality possible, like I said Max is already streaming sports in 4K at this point..

I wonder what they mean by the possibility of more shows. Is that this rumored 'Shockwave'?
Shockwave for sure is being shopped around but that won’t be on a WBD property so that will be an entirely separate deal.

Additional shows/content would be on socials and Max, most likely. They already aired what was essentially a pilot episode of Dinner and a Match (like Dinner and a Movie) on the TBS YouTube, and it did massive numbers compared to what most TBS YouTube videos do.

If I'm totally honest I have no idea what money is good money or bs like that and I already watch on Triller so I'm (so far) unaffected but if this means people will stop arguing about media rights deals and viewing figures for even a hot minute it sounds like a good fukking news day.

Attendance will take center stage for people still looking to argue but that's why I felt streaming on Max was a must have for AEW... that's the only way I could envision them growing their core fan base. Max has 100 million subscribers or thereabouts, they need to tap into some of them

It’s necessary than for nothing else that cable TV is drawing from a smaller and smaller pool of people every day. I can see some time in the future where the only thing cable exists for is live sports and news.

Well yeah so TNT/TBS I believe at this point are probably in around 70 million homes in the U.S. but those numbers dwindle everyday as people continue to cord cut.

Max opens up the door for a lot of cord cutters to watch.

Same with Netflix and RAW...

The good thing for AEW too is that with 'Dynamite' 'Collision' and the PPVS all available on Max you don't even have to have access to another streamer to see all of it.

You’re never going to stop sucking racist Triple K’s dikk for free.

I’ll give you credit for at least showing up to reply instead of being a bytch like the other three were so :salute:

Imagine probably never interacting with a POC in real life but come on a hip hop based message board to argue racism in wrestling to push a narrative on some stan war shyt…
