My fear for any future character they use that's not Mario or Kirby related. Metroid, Zelda, StarFox, F-Zero there's legitimate mature lore involved in those characters.

Zelda to me was always about gameplay over story. By the time the storys got deeper i was already checked out

Zelda dont compare at all with Mario to casuals. Casuals know all about mario and its characters.

I consider myself a zelda fan and dont even understand half the story or know any characters sides a few.

Star fox would have been a good one after mario. Save zelda for something else. If zelda bombs wont be anything but mario.

Imo like the games, nintendo could create their own universe of genre pics; each one diff. Zelda could he nintendos lord of the rings, metroid their alien, and star fox their startrek/star wars.

I do think Star Fox would be a better choice for an animation project (by a studio like Illumination) than Zelda, even if its far less popular.

Star Fox is pretty easy to adapt, its basically Muppet Babies Star Wars
