I like her more than Zaheer. They didn't even give him a backstory or put focus on WHY he is who he is.
Her build up was very organic. I was legit shocked when I started season 4 and realized who she was and saw she was going to be the big bad. Saw her fight alongside Su and everyone else, and she held her own in a number of spots in season 3. Its kinda really fukking dope how they didnt just throw someone new in there but had someone they were building for the moment who saw the opportunity to seize the moment and did so.

And she's just a badddddd bytch. LAWD i love me some Kuvira.

I'm okay with the lack of explanation on Zaheer, though. I think they gave enough of a backstory. I don't need to know how he was raised and everything.

I'm not talking about his life story. Just the turning point that caused him to be who he was. In fact, they should have gave a story on the Red Lotus too.

There was a lot of potential but nothing happened. All we know is they were convict anarchists. Every other baddie had a story behind his or her actions.

Understood. I'm okay with it personally but I understand where you're coming from. I just think when season 3 was made it was kinda like...from scratch. I legit feel the creators thought it was getting cancelled after season 2 and thats why they had like a whole universe changing story like the two worlds merging again. Wouldn't be surprised if it would have been too much story to add to fit their backstory in it. I wonder if they'll expand on the Red Lotus and their origins in the Legend of Korra comic coming out in July. Would be really fukking dope to see.

How far you in in season 4 breh?

2nd to last ep. I like this season more than book 3. :ld:

The weakest ep was that unnecessary flashback ep. Could have used that ep for book 3 Red Lotus/Zaheer story origin. :beli:

It was initially only supposed to be 1 season. But one benefit Last Airbender had was that it season was 22 eps, so it had more time for character development.

i was re-watching the final agni-kai between zuko and azula and i noticed something
throughout the entire match, zuko and azula are throwing straightforward, linear attacks at one another

tumblr_inline_osak6sQ8Ca1rfxork_540.gif

and they deflect with the same kind of movement

tumblr_inline_osak6s2mgt1rfxork_540.gif

but then when zuko does his firespin breakdance thing, its in no way linear, its completely circular

tumblr_inline_osak6tu7PW1rfxork_540.gif

up until that point, theyd been doing classical firebending movements, but this one isnt really seen in firebending. but it IS seen in airbending

tumblr_inline_osak6uJ9bk1rfxork_540.gif

point is, zuko was learning from aang at the same time aang was learning from zuko
Interesting observation :ohhh:

I still can't get over how disappointing this show was. It wasn't bad but it was clear there was no vision for this past the first season. I know it was supposed to be a one-off season and they added the 3 more but you would have figured they'd have a clear plan for those 3 seasons. Season 3 overall was the best. Season 2 was pretty rough and season 4 was acceptable but seemed like it could have been so much better.

The original series really benefits from telling a single cohesive story over 3 seasons instead of being several disjointed one-offs like Korra was.

Facts. I get sad every time this thread is upped cause it reminds me of its existence

Korra was forgettable.

The first two seasons of Airbender are really where it's at. Once it got into the 3rd season, it started getting melodramatic and ironically, more childish.

I'm just mad Nick has never made a lot of merchandise out of the Airbender franchise. 1 bad movie shouldn't have stopped them from making money off this world.

TMNT has made so many trash and they are still making 20th anniversary toys.

I ignored this for years and decided to binge the entire series in the span of 3 days. I'm both impressed and disappointed, you can tell this wasn't given nearly the same budget and care that the original series was given, but through all that it still was a great show. Short lived, but it closed all of the doors that TLA left open, and brought us new and enjoyable characters that for the most part received satisfying sub-plots that were handled appropriately. The only problem it had was not having enough episodes to flesh out the characters and their development (especially the villains). Sometimes TLA had too much fluff, but this one has not enough.

8/10 I'd probably rewatch TLA someday and this along with it 5-10 years from now.
