Nope, game came out in 2020, long after GoT hype was over

TLOU Part 2 came out during covid....GOT came out when i was in college lol. Like several years before the game released
Y'all think they copied the flow or was this a genuine, preordained storyline?

I think it was genuine

From what I understand, Joel was dead....conceptually..... before development of TLOU Part 2 even started. And that was long before the series was even announced to be in the works.

Potential spoiler theory about Eugene :ohhh:

This is just a theory I saw, but what if Eugene found out that Ellie was immune or saw her get bit, and that's why Joel killed him?

Maybe, while out doing patrol, Ellie was being reckless as usual, and she got bit. Eugene probably saw this, and Joel killed him to keep it a secret. Then, Joel lies to everyone back in Jackson, saying that he had to kill Eugene because he got bit by an infected.

Ellie had a surprised face in the 7-Eleven after Jesse mentioned him. Clearly there's something more there. Also, apparently there's going to be a "bottle" episode in this season, and it will most likely be about Eugene.

And I bet those people want Abby killed. Can't say it's white incels now when the general populace are Team Joel and Ellie.:mjlol: I keep telling folks the story don't make sense and anybody talking about killing Joel don't know what they talking about. Joel didn't deserve to die. He tried to save a kid he developed kinship for.

They could have waited for Ellie to wake up. They didn't.
The doctor could have simply let Joel take Ellie and let the fire flies go after him. He didn't.

Abby killed a man who was just trying to save his own.

:manny:
Such is life. People are hunted down and killed for less, daily.

They REALLY wanted a shot at making a vaccine with what the fungus in her head.

He REALLY didn’t want them to kill her in the process.

The firefly’s were adamant about him leaving since the job was finished.

He was adamant that he was going back inside to save her.

Years later. Abby REALLY wanted him dead. Her and her friends were REALLY salty at, not only the loss of their loved ones, but also having a shot at a Potential vaccine gone.

All sides stood on business, I having trouble figuring out what you don’t get about it. People die because they stepped on the wrong shoe, or knock on the wrong door. Why is THIS stupid?

The problem is her crew acts like they're terrified of her. She barks orders at them or acts aggressively and they hesitate to say anything or stop her like they fear they're in danger. None of it adds up when they all tower over her.

I'm not someone who played the game although I know what that character looks like. Casting a petite actress just doesn't work when there's no explanation for why she's an intimidating presence. It doesn't matter if that's how the show chose to go about it when it's not believable. We haven't seen her in action save for her busting her ass in the snow and damn near getting bodied until Joel stopped in.

I enjoyed the two episodes and this isn't a deal breaker for me but I can't understand the casting choice. It seems like they wanted her stature to be closer to Bella's.
Especially this right here. Chic looks 85 pounds max and everybody breathing hard and acting scared of her when she speaks and is the smallest in the room. The whole scene just felt fake to me and lacked the seriousness of Abby being some kind of bad ass leader like people are alluding to that she is in the game.
I've said it last week but they missed the mark on casting for this show IMO.
Now I guess the rest of the season is Ellie's revenge story and fight scenes with and the eventual showdown of frail high school looking women punching and choking each other out with leg locks.

Well, the show version of Abby is not meant to be a "badass leader". It's been said multiple times, but the showrunners decided to focus on the mental and emotional aspects of Abby. They aren't focusing on her physical strength like in the game.

Also, I've said this a few times, but since show Ellie is so small and frail, it would be ridiculous for show Abby to be buff and much taller.

I believe it's genuine. I don't think JRR Martin killing Ned Stark in the 90's was something Druckmann and the writing crew thought of as the base for their second game. Specially because Ned dying had other intention from the author than what Naughty Dag wanted to do with Joel's death. I don't know if them watching GOT season 1 lit a lightbulb either, I think they are too different type of situations narrative wise.

Both Last of Us games have an overarching theme. The first one was "love" and the extents people will go to for the people they love the most, in a zombie apocalypse setting. The second one has "revenge" as a theme and it's much more developed than "love" was in the first one. Joel dying early is the catalyst of the story but it's just the start. You'll see very clearly what's the message they wanted to convey by making this decision.

I don't know man. Without even getting in to the game similarities or difference, I've never perceived the crew is afraid of TV show Abby outside of Mel (poor Mel :mjlol:). So far on the show it's pretty clear the group sees Owen as the voice of reason and he's constantly worried about Abby.

Manny doesn't really give a fukk it seems like and Nora seems to be pretty down for cause. The only one timid is Mel and that's why she gets bullied by Abby (and that will make more sense later too).

But so far we don't know their ranks yet. If Abby is the first in command it makes sense the crew kinda has to go along with her. We'll see if the TV show cares to explain if 1) she indeed has a higher rank and 2) how she got that rank.

Nah, you can't be this obtuse :laff:

Joel gives his coat to Dina to make her warm, which is something that's there to show hard headed people like you that Dina's well being was Joel's first goal out of this thing.

He then goes directly to the window to see what's going on in Jackson and tells the group to strap up, get blankets and get ready to leave in 3 minutes. How in the name of fukk you took that and thought "Joel knows thinks he's gonna hang out , chill and get comfortable in this log cabin with a bunch of fukking strangers".

Abby has her hat on and a blanket and tells Joel her name, he then literally gives her the ":what:" because he doesn't give a fukk, TURNS AROUND (so he doesn't see Abby anymore) and calls Jackson for a response on the walkie talkie.

THEN Abby tells the gang Joel's name and takes the blanket off and. Then Dina gets used as bargain chip and we get the ensuing scene....

How, how is that bad writing under any measure? :dead: :dead: :dead:
Dina called his name and I don't even think she really noticed Abby at the time. When she called his name, Abby's eyes widened and she knew what the deal was because she already had a detailed description of how he looks. Dina has no reason to conceal the name of Joel. She's not a goon or a fighter. Just a lil young chick getting by.
